Scott Walker’s Many Answers on Gay Rights
The Daily Beast ^ | July 21, 2015 | Betsy Woodruff

Pandering Is Hard. Suffice it to say the Wisconsin governor and 2016 hopeful has a hard time explaining his views on the subject.

It’s safe to say LGBT issues are not Scott Walker’s favorite conversation topic.

Questions about various aspects of the gay rights debate have frequently tripped him up on the campaign trail - most recently during an interview on CNN when he was asked whether being gay was a choice.

“Oh, I mean, I think that’s -- that’s not even an issue for me to be involved in,” the Wisconsin governor said. “The bottom line is, I’m going to stand up and work hard for every American, regardless of who they are, no matter where they come from, no matter what their background, I’m going to fight for people, whether they vote for me or not.”

How about more significant questions, press, like what to do about sanctuary cities and the politicians who protect them? How about more on Islamic terrorism at home and abroad? How about questions on closing the border? Taxes? Deficits? Crime? Failing schools? The failures of the welfare state?

Things that really matter?

The Walker family will continue to advocate for gay marriage if they live in the White House. They currently vacation and host parties with the gay couple in whose wedding their son was Best Man. That won’t stop if he’s elected.

Actions speak louder than words.

Great another candidate who likes to waffle on social issues.

Oh Dear. The Daily Beast is dissatisfied with Scott Walkers answers on the subject of homosexual marriage.

On Hillary’s answers pertaining to the tens of thousands of classified e-mails spinning on hard drives in her basement, not so much.

If Walker wants to play it safe, which is about as much as we can ask for from the GOP anymore, whay can’t he just ask the media why they want to be divisive instead of asking about issues of concern to all Americans? That’s not a tough one, even for a politician.

Well, Scott could be asked about Racine, Madison Milwaukee and Dane County, all Sanctuaries for Illegals.

Good grief, what more is there to be advocated? Outlawing heterosexuality?

I don’t dislike Scott Walker. I hope that he is more firm on social issues than he seems. But I want someone whom I can trust. His pattern of giving an “uncertain sound” is consistent with those who eventually “evolved” on the subject.

It’s just that when I see him talk, or hear about his record, he’s just so blah. I bet he’s never drank sweet tea.

Yes indeed! He could just say that he will abide by the law of the land, now what about sanctuary cities for illegals?

“Good grief, what more is there to be advocated? Outlawing heterosexuality?”

I’m sure that is on the list. Just as soon as they destroy Religious Liberty.

I like candidates who can answer these questions in a convincing, inspiring way. Anyone who has core beliefs on a subject can do that.

Yes. It’s important to remember that he’s the executive of his state. It’s also important to remember that he was for amnesty before he offered weak opposition to it: Secure the borders first-happy talk. He could shut down the sanctuary policies of his state, but he doesn’t want to because Riense Preibus is against it.

But when some judge said their sodomite marriage ban was illegal, he jumped right up and declared the issue dead.

He seems unclear on the concept that the federal government isn’t here to fix everybody’s problems, it’s here to protect their liberty so they are free to fix their own problems. That is what America is all about and that is what so many have fought and died for.

Walker seems unclear about how the Constitution limits the feds to a few things like defending our country. Federal acts outside constitutional authority are illegal and by definition acts of tyranny. “Compassionate” federal acts outside constitutional authority are acts of “compassionate tyranny” (what Bush’s “compassionate conservatism” was really all about).

I’m sick of federal tyranny which of course is adversarial to freedom and the protective Rule of Law of the Constitution, but can have a “compassionate” mask.

Oh no! A conservative who associates with gays!

You are a horrible human being to denigrate a man because he is friends with gays.

There are many FReepers who have gay relatives and friends. It does not define our ideology, but it does define our humanity and our Christianity.

You are neither a good human nor a good Christian!
