Don’t Vote for Donald Trump…If (Excellent questions)
Townhall.com ^ | July 21, 2015 | Wayne Allyn Root

Let's put this all into perspective. I am a S.O.B.- son of a butcher. My butcher dad instilled me with common sense. His favorite saying was, "Don't watch what a man says, watch what he does."

Never has that saying applied more than with Donald Trump's comments about John McCain this past weekend. Of course John McCain is a war hero. That is not up for debate. Trump was angry. He was responding to attacks by McCain. He let his anger get the best of him. Trump was offensive. Trump was wrong. He should have attacked McCain's politics, but clearly separated that from his record as a war hero.

But think of my father's wise words. Stop worrying about what a man says and worry about what he does.

If you find Donald Trump’s comments about Senator John McCain inappropriate and offensive, here are a few important questions for you…

Are Trump’s comments about John McCain more important than Obama agreeing to a nuclear deal with Iran that gives them everything they ever dreamed of

…including the ability to build a nuclear bomb…and hundreds of billions of dollars they will use to fund terrorism all over the world…and dramatically increasing the odds for another Jewish Holocaust?

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than our hero veterans being left on fake waiting lists to die by Obama’s Veterans Administration?

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than our hero soldiers left disarmed at military bases (like Ft. Hood) and recruitment centers (like the one in Tennessee), so they are helpless when attacked by armed terrorists?

(THINGS that as a powerful U.S. Senator, McCain failed to correct!)

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than Obama’s refusal to lower the flag to half-mast at the White House in honor of the five slain military heroes from last week’s terrorist attack?

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than Obama’s refusal to use “Islam” and “terrorist” in the same sentence?

Incidentally, the White House and mainstream media both called the latest killings in Tennessee by a radical Islamic terrorist named Mohammed a “domestic terror attack.”

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than the fact that Obama has left the border wide open, thereby allowing terrorists to easily walk into our country?

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than the fact Obama has made it easy for immigrants from Muslim countries to come to America?

Over 127,000 visas were issued just last year for students from Muslim countries. This is a terrorist disaster waiting to happen.

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than the murder of a beautiful young lady in broad daylight on a tourist pier in San Francisco at the hands of an illegal Mexican national who was deported FIVE TIMES?

As Trump points out, Obama hasn't even bothered to call her parents and offer his condolences.

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than Obama committing crimes against the American people by using the IRS, FBI and DOJ to try to silence and even IMPRISON his political opponents?

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than Obama keeping a secret RACE-BASED database in order to force every school, neighborhood and bank decision in America to be based on “equality”, “social justice”, and “race”?

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than 45 million Americans on welfare for 48 consecutive months in Obama’s America?

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than 144 million Americans living in homes collecting some form of entitlement checks…and the lowest workforce participation rate in modern history?

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than a negative GDP growth rate in the first quarter (meaning our economy is going backwards)?

Incidentally, if the Fed’s prediction of 1.9% GDP growth for 2015 is correct, Obama will be the first president in history with 7 straight years under 3% growth.

So Trump’s words aren’t costing any of us a dime, but Obama’s policies are destroying middle class incomes.

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than $8 trillion in debt added under Obama (a 70% increase) that threatens to destroy our children’s future?

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than Obama's lies and fraud about Obamacare when he said, “If you like your health insurance, you can keep it?” At the time he said it, Obama knew that 93 million Americans would lose their insurance. Isn’t that fraud?

It's important to note that Trump's words didn't cost any of us a dollar, but Obama's lying words doubled and tripled our insurance premiums.

Are Trump's comments about McCain more important than the cover-up of Benghazi, when Obama and Hillary both knew it was a terrorist attack, but lied and blamed it on a film no one watched, to save Obama’s re-election?

Please keep in mind they also refused all attempts to mount a rescue operation.

Trump’s words didn’t cost anyone their life.

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than Hillary deleting 32,000 emails- none of which she claims were any of your business?

Are Trump's comments about McCain more important than Hillary accepting $2 billion in donations to the Clinton Foundation, much of it from foreign governments while serving as Secretary of State, then awarding contracts to her big donors?

And…

Are Trump’s comments about McCain more important than Hillary’s Clinton Foundation taking in $149 million last year but only donating $9 million to charity? Isn’t that called a charity scam?

I wouldn’t doubt the only reason Hillary is supporting Obama’s terrible Iran deal is that he threatened to open DOJ and IRS criminal investigations of the corrupt Clinton Foundation. That’s how “Chicago politics” works…even within your own party! Ask New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez.

Folks, the economy is failing. Our foreign policy is failing. ISIS is thriving. Our enemies are laughing. The middle class is being destroyed. 107 million Americans are on some form of welfare. Obamacare is an unmitigated disaster for the middle class and the big rate increases haven’t even started yet. The treaty with Iran is the worst in U.S. history. Our debt threatens to destroy our children's future.

None of this has happened because of words. It’s the actions above that are destroying America and the American dream.

Yet Obama, Hillary, the establishment politicians in DC (including John McCain) and the mainstream media want you to pay attention only to one comment by Donald Trump. According to the media, that's the biggest news story in America.

My question is why does an inappropriate and offensive one liner by Donald Trump even merit a headline, let alone the lead story in the news?

Because the establishment in DC and the mainstream media are scared to death of Donald Trump. They are scared he will upset the apple cart. He’ll stop the gravy train. He’ll investigate the corruption and bribery. He’ll prosecute the criminals in the DC political class ripping off the American people and destroying the middle class. They are using Trump's words to distract you from seeing the actions that are destroying our country. Their actions.

They are so scared they’ll stop at nothing to destroy him. So Donald Trump is treated differently than any other candidate. They record his every word- searching for the one word or sentence that can ruin his presidential ambitions.

So if the actions above taken by Obama, Hillary and the DC career politicians don’t bother you…

If you like the direction of America and like things exactly as they are…

If you think words are more important than actions, or jobs, or the economy, or your healthcare...

Don’t vote for Trump.

Obama and Trump: Two of a Kind
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/421403/obamas-inner-trump
Outwardly they couldn’t be more different. But take a closer look.
Victor Davis Hanson
July 21, 2015

President Obama is said to feel liberated, in the sense that he can finally say what, and do as, he pleases — without much worry any more over political ramifications, including presidential and congressional elections. Obama’s lame-duck presidency has now devolved into the progressive bully pulpit that his base always longed for. Of course, his editorializing and executive orders may worry Hillary Clinton — much as Donald Trump’s pronouncements do his more circumspect Republican rivals.

Trump is a celebrity who tweets and phones his praise of and insults to comedians, athletes, and media kingpins. But so does Obama love the celebrity world. He is comfortable with Jay Z and Beyoncé, picks the Sweet Sixteen on live television, and has reminded us that he’s the LeBron of the Teleprompter, who won’t choke under the spotlights. Both see pop culture and the presidency as a fitting together perfectly.

(Snip)

Donald Trump believes he can oversell America abroad in the manner of Chamber of Commerce boosterism; isn’t that the twin to Obama underselling the country in the fashion of a wrinkled-browed academic? Both are stern moralists: America is too often shorted, and so Trump is angry over the sins of omission. For Obama, past genocide, racism, and imperialism vie as sins of U.S. commission.

Would a Trump bragging tour be all that much different from an Obama apology tour? If, in politically incorrect style, it is implied that all immigrants are likely to be criminals, is that any sloppier or more politically motivated than the politically correct assumption that all are dreamers? Threatening to charge Mexico per illegal immigrant seems about as sensible as leaving the border wide open and nullifying existing immigration law.

There is no need to elect Donald Trump; we’ve already had six years of him.

but clearly separated that from his record as a war hero.

Would you mind going over that with me? I am kinda fuzzy on what makes McCain a hero? I flew in combat, was not shot down and was never taken prisoner. I do not consider myself a hero. Scott O'Grady was shot down but was not taken prisoner. He is not a hero either. McCain endured horrendous suffering at the Hanoi Hilton, but hundreds of others did as well. The media is not calling them heroes, though I would like to hear from them. McCain himself said he is not a hero.

So the saying is, "Don't watch what a man says, watch what he does." And then the author draws up a long list of things Trump said compared to what others did. Right now all we've got to go on it Trump's mouth, which is all over the place, because we have no idea based on past performance where Trump will stand on anything. We know where Cruz stands because we've seen it. We know where Walker stands because we've seen it. We don't really know where Trump is going to stand. So the author's own dad would probably not be looking at Trump.

When I was a kid we used to joke about the worst players on the other team by saying, “you’re our best player.” McCain is the Democrats’ best player.

Hanson is dead wrong. Trump is the diametrical opposite of Obummer. Obummer’s entire effort is expended at destroying America, the America he hates to his core. He is skilled at doing so. Trump may be many things, but he loves America and will do his utmost to make it great again. Will he succeed? All we have is Trump’s record of determined achiever and doer to guide us.

That is such an incredibly stupid article. I can’t believe this came from Victor Davis Hanson.

“We know where Cruz stands because we’ve seen it.”

Yes. Cruz voted for TPA, a trade bill that transfers immense powers to Obama, as per the word of Senator McConnell. He also voted for the Iranian Corker bill, which, as Rush says, is a disaster, and enabled Obama to surrender to Iran. That is not talk, that is action. I await you telling me what a horrible person I am as a refutation of what I say to excuse Cruz’s Obama kiss-ups and to show he is the only conservative candidate.

I will most likely talk to Wayne latter this week. I will tell him he went to far to try and make his point and still didn’t get there.

“Don’t watch what a man says, watch what he does.”

That eliminates about 99% of Republican “leaders” from the discussion.

VDH, a Democrat, gets so many things right, it’s a shame to see him botch this analysis so horribly. Evidently TDS is kicking in early in some sectors.

To all the questions about trump, the answer is ‘no’.
To all the hype to repqair the velcro sticking to McCain:
1. he prostituted his being a POW, whereas the others, IIRC, did not.
2. his POW inmate buddies don’t want to be connected with him.
3. AFTER being a POW, and elected as U.S. Senator, this ‘richard’ was one of the keating five, ripping off a lot of folks out of their money, myself included, and was never brought to the halls of justice for that.
4. Any time The People stand up, and demand answers from this ‘richard’, he has, on record, called them lunatics, insane, idiots, and more, both to their faces, and in the well in the Senate.

Trump is a private American citizen, unbeholding to any political favors or debts incurred in any elected political of Congress, unlike any of the others who have decided to enter their candidacy.

Hanson is usually reliable. Sad to see he doesn't get it with Trump.

For the umpteenth time, no one thinks he's a conservative. But he doesn't have to be on all issues. All he has to do is be a conservative on the 3-4 issues that he IS a conservative on, border security, Common Core, vets, business and trade.

Obama is an ideologue. There is no one who would accuse Trump of that. Trump is a businessman/opportunist, and sometimes that's what you need. Warren Harding appointed his entire cabinet of businessmen. All we got from that was the Roaring 20s before McCain/Romney (er, Hoover) began government interference and gave us the Great Depression.

I like Cruz. He's probably my guy in the primary. However, what do we have that Cruz has done other than the failed shutdown---WHICH I SUPPORTED?

Did he ever introduce a bill to defund Obamacare? Did he join Paul in trying to filibuster the NSA snooping? As senator, I'm not sure just sponsoring one or two bills that you know no one will pass really counts as doing a lot. It's great---better than most, and certainly better than Rubio or Perry---but still not much to so on.

But if you look at Abraham Lincoln (no, Trump's not Lincoln but hear me out), we had NOTHING to go on of what he had "done" when he was elected, only what he said. Reagan had a number of policies in CA that were not great---raised taxes, put in place abortion. But when he ran for president it was a different ballgame.

What Trump has DONE, more than anyone, including Cruz, is stand up in front of the public for several BIG issues, paint a bullseye on himself, and said, "COME ON." That's what a leader does. He has refused to buckle under withering criticism and has, by default, completely redefined the playing field. No one else has yet been able to DO that. So I guess he has done a lot.

I love what Walker did in WI, but I have this very bad feeling that Walker a) won't win a national, but worse, b) on big issues he'll be McCain. No, I don't have evidence for that. Like I say, in WI he has been great.
