Hillary Rodham Clinton plans later this week to propose raising capital gains taxes for some investors, pivoting from a 2008 pledge not to increase the rate beyond 20 percent. The policy is part of a larger effort by her campaign to encourage greater focus on longer-term economic growth rather than more immediate gains for investors-a priority for the liberal Democrats shell need in 2016.
The new rates would be pegged to the duration of the investment, with short-term holdings taxed at a higher percentage.
In remarks on Facebook, Clinton also expanded on a promise to pursue criminal prosecution of bad actors on Wall Street, saying she would strengthen the power of government regulators and raise caps on compensation for financial whistleblowers. [ ]
Earlier this year, Obama proposed increasing the rate to 28 percent for the highest earners. [ ]
Capital gains taxes disproportionally affect the wealthiest Americans. A study from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center found that capital gains accounted for about half of the earnings of those making over $10 million-and just a fraction of those making less than $500,000.

A take off of her 2008 WE WILL TAKE THINGS FROM YOU speech.
I'm guessing, however, that her Wall Street contributors will be exempt. So all you Wall Street fat cats, get those "contributions" in while you still can.
Advisor to HRC:
“Ms. Clinton, you are dropping in the polls. What would you like to do - what’s your strategy?”
HRC:
“Let’s raise taxes! That’ll show that som’bitch Sanders who’s the real socialist! Now tell that Secret Service agent to get the He!1 out of here!”
Advisor:
“Brilliant! Just brilliant! Let that inner socialist loose, girl!”

I won’t hold my breath.......
Capital gains need to have the inflation wrung out before taxation. 20 yr holdings need to be treated differently from 6 mo holdings.
Because nothing spells “long term economic growth” like “tax increase.”
I wonder if she will also prosecute fake charities that exist to support family and friends but do no or little charity work?
Seems I recall Bill doing the same thing in 1993.
“Capital gains need to have the inflation wrung out before taxation. 20 yr holdings need to be treated differently from 6 mo holdings.”
Actually, Capital Gains taxes just need to be abolished as do estate taxes.
I wonder if the country club GOP establishment is suddenly going to wake up and see who they are dealing with and “working together to get things done” Dems in another light. If not they deserve to have their capitol gains taxed more. Screw them and their amnes
ty.
Will the law be written to exempt those whose last name begins with C, end with N, who hasn’t driven herself for 20 years?
“Who wants to work anyways?
If we can stomp out Capitalism and rid our country of the infestation of small business, then you will all not have to work!”
* Applause *
“I will make it my Business to insure that none of you ever have to work again. Only us elites will have to deal with filthy lucre. We plan to take the burden of money off of you and plant it squarely on our own backs, for you!!!”
* Thunderous Applause *
^out...not ou
Of course she does. And she probably has an accountant who has figured out how they will get around it. She should find a lump in her armpit.
The GOP-e has helped the hard-left Dems for decades. It’d be a miracle if they came down with a sudden case of conservatism.
Anyone with a a retirement fund invested in the market, real estate, etc. pays capital gains taxes (in Oregon, more than the Feds). But go ahead and destroy our savings/earnings by Obama care, taxes and regulations.

I have one to but they need to pay for their duplicity and their treachery. This is probably the only way to bring them back to reality.
