You can always remain silent. If you don't like laws that require you to present ID, don't ride in cars, I guess.
I haven't really found it to be a problem. Then again, I manage to avoid getting pulled over by, get this, following the law.

I can tell you from being involved greatly in hiring that there are many new officers who are going to suddenly get thrust into this Ferguson Riots part 2 without the steady China hands to give them guidance.
This is a perfect storm for excessive force and breakdown of discipline.
All because of a monstrous lie.
