I’m with Steyn on this, we need vengeance not ballons. One mistake that ought to be corrected, the Marines and Sailor were killed at the Naval Reserve Center. No one was killed at the strip mall recruiting office.
How about “both vengeance and balloons.” If it weren’t for what is sometimes called the soft side of life, there would be nothing worth defending either.
Actually, some sensible plans to guard troops are needed. US forces are a world class joke when they get murdered, repeatedly, in situations like this. But again the cobbler’s children go barefoot.
I have been trying to figure out how the five were killed and confess that I have not watched any coverage of this on tv. I don’t know if they have shown the Reserve facility at all. All I had pictured from reading accounts of this jihadi attack on the US is strip mall type recruiting centers. So I just googled the Chattanooga training location that is located behind a black fence and along a public river walk. It looks like the Palestinian engineer rammed his car through the fence and got out and started shooting. One of the victims had enough time to recognize an active shooter situation and to text that message to his girlfriend. And that is all I have figured out from the limited info.
I also visited the training center’s Facebook page. They have posted several warnings to be vigilant and situationally aware in the last three weeks.
