Confederate flag demand has Alabama company 'absolutely swamped'

When the controversy over the Confederate flag erupted last month, the owner of a Huntsville flag company said her business would make the flags even if no one else would.

And that's apparently what's happened.

"I'm not aware of another company in the United States making these flags," said Belinda Kennedy, owner of Alabama Flag & Banner, in an interview Thursday with AL.com.

So now you know why the website for the Governors Drive business near downtown Huntsville cautions visitors that all Confederate flag orders will take two to three weeks to be filled.

Hmmm. Guess no one has considered that messing with the 1st Amendment isn't such a good idea. Likely a lot of folks who didn't care one way or the other are now buying them as a thumb in the eye to those that would try to deny us/them their 1st Amendment rights. Kinda like guns and ammo sales go up evertime the lyin' king and his ilk start their unconstitutional crap with the 2nd Amendment. Thank you mam for doing the right thing. What surprised me most about this whole affair was how quickly feckless GOP governors jumped on the bandwagon.

Banning the Confederate battle flag because some whack job who murdered a classroom full of black people in a church displayed one on social media makes even less sense as banning the Koran because Islamic terrorists often use it as a prop in their snuff videos.

If they ever succeed in banning Confederate flags, there is one Confederate flag that you can still obtain and fly—the Bonnie Blue Flag. If you’re caught flying it, just say you’re flying a Somali flag—which is exactly the same except for its shade of blue being a little lighter. Since Somalia is both black and Muslim, the flag banners would give you a wide berth.

I was going to suggest the same thing, also the first flag of the Confederacy would not be recognized by most people as it does not have the battle flag as part of it.

The Stars and Bars represents a rebellious attitude.

It is called the Rebel Flag and is the symbol of all rebels everywhere regardless of the cause.

The left wants it banned because they want universal conformity. They don’t want anyone flying a flag that doesn’t represent their ideals.

Flying the American Flag upsets liberals, but flying the Rebel Flag puts them into hysterics.

I’ve seen the rebel flag flying in parts of Europe and at soccer games over there. When asked why they tell me that it is because they’re rebels or are rebelling against what ever they have chosen.

That, plus they have been trying for years to erase from the minds of young people the possibility of fighting back and protecting yourself. The HS my sons attended would punish those defending themselves from attack just as harshly as the instigators. It finally dawned on me why they took Looney Toons off the air. It was not because of violence, it was because the characters in conflict always defended themselves from attack. The Commies don't want push back when they make their real move.

I doubt Barack Obama will support destroying ISIS because he wants to promote the idea that America is not worth defending, and it will give our young people a fresh round of a war effort that sends the message that we are worth defending. Finally, not allowing military installations, such as the one in Chattanooga or Ft. Hood, Obama also reinforces the idea that we are not worth defending.

One thing I will say about the illegals coming here: they are willing to put their lives on the line to get here. By virtue of that fact, they ID Obama as the liar he is.

Me too. But no pirate flags with skull and crossbones. I’m skerred of pirates and thus find their flag terrifying and offensive. I may sue disney and make them close down pirates of the carribean and johnny depp too. :>}
