Oklahoma gov orders arms for state military personnel

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin (R) issued an executive order late Friday authorizing certain full-time military personnel in her state to be armed following a deadly shooting the previous day in Tennessee.

“Four unarmed Marines were killed in what appears to be a domestic terrorist attack,” Fallin said in a statement accompanying her executive order.

“It is painful enough when we lose members of our armed forces when they are sent in harm’s way, but it is unfathomable that they should be vulnerable for attack in our own communities," she said.

Fallin's order applies to those on military installations in Oklahoma, including recruiting offices like the one where a gunman opened fire in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Thursday, before killing four Marines.

Her order allows for weaponry deemed by Adjutant General for Oklahoma Maj. Gen. Robbie L. Asher "necessary to adequately provide for the security of the facilities and their occupants."

The order apparently applies only to the Oklahoma National Guard. Other military locations are governed by Pentagon policy, which has been faced with scrutiny recently.

A growing number of lawmakers have called for troops serving at domestic military facilities to be allowed to be armed, while at least one piece of legislation is in the works following the shooting.

Fallin also ordered American and Oklahoma flags to be kept at half-staff over the weekend in the state in honor of the four that died in what authorities have labeled as terrorism.

"Unfortunately, this kind of target, violent attack against our military personnel is becoming increasingly common; there have been at least eight major assaults on military sites since 2009," Fallin said.

"We must take every action to ensure that our servicemen and women are appropriately protected from potential assailants," she added.

Oklahoma and Arizona so far. Now when will governors of the remaining states do likewise?

I know Pennsylvania won't. We have an uber liberal governor and we're stuck in the 19th century.

And they keep letting muslims into the U.S. year in and year out, inviting the hellish cancer that is islam to the body host, to destroy what’s left of the wilting West. Traitors all to our civilization and way of life. Our children and grandchilden will have this problem to solve, thanks to us.

Hopefully, TX Gov. Greg Abbott will do the same. Perry should have done it after the Ft. Hood attack. Obama certainly should not be the only one who can issue executive orders, particularly ones that take constitutional rights away from Americans.

” inviting the hellish cancer that is islam to the body host,”

By design, I’m afraid. My parents lived in the same neighborhood from 1954 until 2007. There was practically no crime. But it was turned into a hellish slum because the government bought up the older houses as people died and made them Section 8. It went from acceptably nice to awful with drug deals on the corners, shootings, police raids...

Inviting Muslims in is meant to accomplish yet more “diversity.”

Well, a few more attacks and we’ll likely see bans of “certain muslims countries”, a few more a total ban. The public will be demanding it, Obama will have to capitulate or face a coup or being ousted. I doubt the Pentagon will sit idly by while hundreds of Americans are killed.

A 19th century Governor wouldn’t allow his people to be sitting ducks. Comrade Wolf is a one-term wonder.

We are at war (though our politicians would like us to forget that fact).

Every military installation should be on a war footing with increased force protection and security for the duration.

Asa made a conference call to all states with a military support of civilian operations MOUA and told them of his decision yesterday, and was quickly followed by OK Gov. Fallon. TX gov Perry and LA gov Jindal will follow soon. Acting LT Governors deferred decisions until they returned. AR will probably let ADSW troops carry CHCL issued by AR State Police whist AGR troops will be issued firearms from armories. Sorry I couldn't post until this AM, been sick:

AR Governor Arms ARNG AGR and possibly ADSW troop Surge>
