New York Times columnist David Brooks was slammed on Twitter Friday after he wrote a column — in the form of a letter to The Atlantic’s Ta-Nehisi Coates — about Coates’ new book about the African-American experience and white privilege.

Brooks’ “Listening to Ta-Nehisi Coates While White” compliments Coates’ “searing contribution to the public education,” but then switches gears to criticize the book, “Between the World and Me.” ...

Salon, which has made a sport of Brooks bashing, wrote a review of Brook’s column, and opined that “the Times columnist displays more white privilege in one column than some white people experience in a lifetime.” ...

Black racism is defined in their concept of white privilege.

Lets talk about black privilege in this country. The entire gimme free sh1t movement is about black privilege.

Worldwide compare - if you are “poor” in America you get more benefits than anywhere else, you have more ability to change your life positively than anywhere else - else why would the entire world want to come here - and you are in the top 16% of the world’s money makers.

I read Brooks’ article, and Brooks was practically on his knees writing it. Even groveling, knees on ground, stomach on ground, arms straight out over head is not enough for the New Totalitarians. What this says is that when ever this bunch gains undisputed power, dissent will be dealt with lead.

If whites supposedly have privileges, how did that come about?

They would answer, it’s because they have more money, more power more influence, and better expectations of success.

And how did that come about?

You keep asking those questions and you will get to the right answer (and where no one wants to go).

By the way, apparently asians have similar privileges as whites. How come?

We earned them.

"Lets talk about black privilege in this country"

That's something obviously many black Americans fail to understand. The average black person in America lives a far better life than 99% of black people in the world. Yet many of them willfully fail to adjust to the American way.

If this country ever separates again (never say never) along political lines, all the white libs sympathetic to blacks whining about Evil Whitey will soon find out they are the new Evil Whitey.

A lot of intellectual controversies are just WWF antics for highbrows.

With Brooks, Coates, and Salon, you know it's just a circus.
