An interesting statistic I learned in the last year:

The majority of Senior Citizens (65+) who fall and break a hip are typically dead 18 months later.

My rheumatologist told me that. My mother fell and broke her hip, she passed just over a year later.

Forgive me but I wanted Carter to go first. I know both will be gone soon but to think that we lose George HW Bush before Carter is depressing.

I’m sorry for the loss of your mother. My own mother fell in March and broke her hip and a couple of ribs. She died in April.

So sorry about your Mom..Breaking a hip is always very dangerous, but I think the most deadly one is hitting your head but I think it also depends on the person, one elderly person can fall, break a hip and fully recover while another person dies from the same fall

I have heard that the real thing that happens is that the person “breaks their hip, and then falls”.

Rather than “falling and breaking the hip”.

IOW, the hip bone breaking causes the fall.

Do you know which it is? i do not.
