Conservatives didn't elect him. Many conservatives including myself didn't vote for him. I can say under oath that I have not voted for Lamar Alexander for senator EVER! I voted for Joe Carr in the GOP primary and Independent in the general election.
BTW I did not vote for Corker in his last election either. I voted for the DEM instead. Why? Because the DEMs didn't run a backed opponent to Corker and one man got on the slot unopposed. He was more Conservative than Porkey on every issue. The DEMs were so bent out of shape they sued to try and get him removed from their ticket LOL.
Lamar Alexander would likely not have even been elected governor but we had a felon DEM governor who was selling Pardons. The man who took his administration down in court? Fred Thompson whom is some Freepers hero still but of the same ilk as Alexander and Corker.
The Tennessee GOP needs to ask Jimmy Duncan to run for the US senate. He is the most reliable and dependable Conservative of the Tennessee US Congressional members. He is one of the most Conservative in Congress. Tennessee has not had a good GOP Senator in my lifetime of 57 years and that would include Howard Baker as well.
