Russia's "Zelenodolsk Design Bureau" (ZPKB) developped a trimaran vessel concept that Russian Navy is ready to test as "proof of concept" in a scale model. The concept is based on a civilian vessel designed by ZPKB, the "RUSICH-2.2".
Zelenodolsk Design Bureau (ZPKB) Trimaran Vessel Concept (SAR) could be Russia's future Littoral Combat Ship (LCS)
This military concept is being considered as a possible patrol vessel by the Russian Navy, and for some potential foreign customers. For this reason, in April this year, Russian MoD awarded a contract for proof of concept: The contract and allocated funds are for "Design, construction and full-scale testing of a high-speed self-propelled scale model of trimaran vessel with outriggers identified as SAR by ZPKB" .
The vessel is expect to displace just 1,500 tons with a top speed of 35 knots.
Based on the various illustration available, it seems like this "Russian LCS" Trimaran could be fitted with:
A-192 130-mm main gun
UKSK VLS cells and/or Redut VLS cells
Paket-NK torpedoes
AK-630M-2 "Duet" CIWS
PK-10 decoy launchers
Furke radar
Mini-Poliment radar(from 20385)
"Zarya-2" Hull Sonar, "Vinietka" VDS
"Puma" 5P-10 artillery radar
Spot for helicopter Ka-27 type in underdeck hangar

Kewl looking but what’s the point?
Wonder how it does in heavy seas, huh...
Hmmm...
Looks like a pretty nice party boat...
Russia tends to copy us, very slowly.
Does this Russians chose (or steal)the Independence class LCS design concept over the Freedom class LCS design concept? Hopefully they also copied all engineering mistakes again as well.
The bow.........
I bet they don’t waste their time withe “mission modules.”
Short outriggers compared to US and other designs
So basically it looks to be either a large frigate or small destroyer with outriggers.

Trimarans have a problem with hull flexing between the three hulls Lots of sailing trimarans have broken up in heavy sea conditions
Well that you ask the question. Our LCS designs (LCS-1 mono-hull; LCS-2 tri-hull) have been in service for seven years and both have problems. I've gone on record calling the LCS design as a “swoose” — part swan and part goose — that cannot perform either task. Alternately, others have said LCS stands for Little Crappy Ship.
The bottom line is the LCS is over weight, under manned, under gunned, over rated, and over priced. The LCS in its current form needs to die and be replaced by several dedicated ship types doing mine warfare, antisubmarine warfare, and anti-air warfare.
Sooner or later we will return to a true cruiser platform of about 18,000 tons. Long range well armed and multifunction capable. Think of an updated DesMoines class of cruiser
Thanks. Maybe I’m having an attack of nostalgia
