Since Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president, the media have bent over backwards to destroy him. Its not just the New York Times and CNN, but outlets like William F. Buckleys National Review, the Wall Street Journal, and other mainstream outlets of the right.
To these media outlets consternation, despite their crazed efforts to demean, discredit, and deny the appetite among Americans for Trumps message, more and more people are coming out to hear and support the one candidate who appears to have listened to themand is leading the charge as opposed to opining from behind the RNCs skirts.
National Review, a self-described conservative opinion magazine, is leading a different charge: the belittling of conservatives at every turn, in every way, no blow too low in their quest to show their elite and superior understanding of the truth. The National Reviews commentary coverage of the Trump candidacy not only reveals a deep contempt of Donald Trump the man, but also, even more telling, a disgust for the unwashed masses and their ill-informed whining.
Whiners and stupid, are two terms National Reviews Kevin D. Williamson chose to describe these conservatives in his op-ed, WHINOS: On the Martyrdom of the Holy, Holy Base. While the goal of Williamsons piece is somewhat elusive was it to shame us, demonstrate his superiority, release some hold-over anti-Tea-Party residual pettiness it certainly couldnt have been to convince us, with all that name-calling (what is William F. Buckley thinking about his use of the pulpit to name-call, one wonders)

National Review has a much more conservative record than Trump. He talks a good game, however.
The National Revue has NEVER been conservative.
Always a liberal(tarian) rag.
Damn hoi polloi, what makes them think they know what’s best for them? Why do they think they should have a say in things anyway?
“Andrew Marcus, director of the motion picture Hating Breitbart, put it best in a conversation earlier this morning:
If Republicans had come together after the election instead of the establishment shiving the grassroots at every turn, the party would be so strong Trump would be promoting his latest season of Apprentice right now instead of handing them their asses.
In essence Trump is one massive Tea Party and the establishment will treat him exactly like they treated the Tea Party.
He represents a disruption to their monopoly on the system and the Republican Party. That will not do.
Perhaps if National Review followed Donald Trumps model of advocating what the people advocate, apologizing for nothing and not backing down to the thought police, rather than singing the GOP elitists songs, more people wouldve bought their magazine and they wouldnt have been forced into 501c3 tax-exempt status to stay in business.
If they are so sure Trump will implode, and the people will abandon his short run of glory, why are the media and National Review so worried?
Because they arent worried about Donald Trump at all, they are worried about who likes him. And if those who like him do move on to someone else, National Review and their friends will demand compliance with the Buckley Rule by levying the same attacks at that candidate, and those people just the same, until at the very end of the process, the one big fat RINO they deem as the best candidate that can win will be left standing. (Not necessarily Chris Christie, but a RINO no doubt.)”
The attack on Trump is just getting started.
He will be attacked by every media outlet, every democrat, every RINO, and most pundits who masquerade as “conservative”.
That is what happens when you try to shake the establishment to it’s core. I hope Trump has the spine to withstand the flak.
You all know what they say...if you are receiving lot of flak, you are right on top of the target.
I will not argue that.
Why, how DARE we not bow to the inherit superiority of our “betters”?! The nerve!
Well you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart (Boehner) threw a sword at you!
Those publications are the journalism equivalent of Establishment Republicans. They only believe those who agree with them are legitimate.
Well you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart (Boehner) threw a sword at you!

Ditto.
Finally the elite are being forced to answer to the issue of illegals and open borders. And the sanctuary city sh1t has been keep quite for far too long.
Notice that all their responses are that we need to STOP talking about illegal’s crime etc. rather than defeating him with logic and facts....because they can’t.
IMO, he is doing now what is desperately needed. Not shutting up about it.
When I talk with a certain individual who will remain nameless, they dismiss everything I say based on the premise that if it counters Leftist Liberal slime, it has to be pure propaganda.
I believe this is a trait instilled in our universities. It’s analogous with the concept introduced in today’s K-12th grade schools, that parents aren’t right about certain things, so don’t listen to them. Listen to us.
At the university level, this is bent further to explain that anything that counters the university dogma, has to be flawed. Don’t listen to it, because it has to be pure propaganda. Nothing can be gained by listening to it.
The Left has in effect turned many minds off. Here’s an example.
The individual I talk to, states that California is very screwed up. I asked who they thought was responsible for that. The response was Republicans. I mentioned that the Legislature has been in the hands of a strong Democrat majority for the better part of 50 years. So once again I asked, who is responsible for this mess. Answer, Republicans.
I hate to say it, but in many ways, all this trashing of Trump come very close to this same thing.
We come to this forum to address problems with these issues:
Immigration
Trade
National Debt
Military
Obamacare
Jobs
Now I don’t claim Trump has them exactly right, but he’s come closer than most have. He’s championing all six of these issues.
So when I ask my fellow Conservatives whose at fault, they say Trump.
Folks, for heaven’s sake, listen to the guy.
He is advocating for what we have been demanding in a number of ways. As I said earlier, he’s not perfect on them, but at least he is going to address them.
Please don’t buy into the idea it’s just propaganda and shut your minds off.
By the same token, I promise not to turn my mind off either. I’m listening to Trump. Time will tell if I continue to or not.
Great post. I agree with everything you are saying.
The comments on the education system really struck home.
He is championing this non-exhaustive list now, but look at what he had to say on these subjects as recently as six months ago. That is why I welcome the message, but not the messenger in Trump’s case. As for who is at fault? That would fall a lot on those that settled for allowing the GOP elites to hijack so much for so long.
Thank you.
That non-exhaustive list as you term it, is partial. He has addressed a number of other issues as well, and has made it clear he understands the finer points on many of them.
It seems to me that Trump has pretty much called a lot of people’s bluff. Were they serious about wanting to address these issues or not?
I’m finding a lot of folks here who aren’t interested at all in addressing these issues. If for no other reason, I appreciate him for outing those people for me.
