This is the Tea Party Nation article that mentions the Walkers vacation and host parties with the gay couple that Alex was witness in their wedding. SCOTT WALKER’S WIFE, TOUGHENED BY LIFE, ADDS STEEL TO CANDIDATE’S SPINE

Jul 6, 2015 by Donna Garner Education Policy Commentator EducationViews.org

Excerpts from this article:

WAUWATOSA, Wis. — Tonette [wife of Scott Walker], who at 59 is a dozen years older than her husband and comes from a pro-union Democratic family, is part of a 2016 class of political spouses who are more visible and unusual than ever.

…“She is not a political junkie who gets up in the morning and reads RedState, Drudge, Politico or The Washington Post,” Kleefisch said about Tonette. She gives her husband “the perspective of the smart, average voter . . . she is the ‘first listener.’ ”

On opposite sides “Do I agree with him all the time? No,” said Tonette. “But most of the time things work out a lot better than I think they will.”

A particularly tough day for the family came a little more than a week ago, when the Supreme Court issued its ruling in favor of same-sex marriage. Scott Walker, a favorite of Republican conservatives and the son of a Baptist preacher, issued a statement calling it a “grave mistake” and supporting a constitutional amendment to allow states to determine who can marry.

In the political world, Walker drew immediate scrutiny for being particularly strident. In their house, Tonette Walker heard immediately about her husband’s response from the couple’s two sons, Matt and Alex, who are taking time off from college to help their father’s campaign. She told them to talk directly to him.

“That was a hard one,” Tonette said, pausing and choosing her words carefully. “Our sons were disappointed. . . . I was torn. I have children who are very passionate [in favor of same-sex marriage], and Scott was on his side very passionate.”

“It’s hard for me because I have a cousin who I love dearly — she is like a sister to me — who is married to a woman, her partner of 18 years,” she said.

She said her son Alex was her cousin’s best man at their wedding last year.

The couple, Shelli Marquardt and Cathy Priem, have vacationed and hosted parties with the Walkers, according to friends.

I know a the wife and kids are gay friendly but Cruz is worse. He is best friend is a butt munched and he had a gay fund raiser recently. Walker has done nothing of it. You equate his family with the candidate....well fine Cruz is a gay lover and even wouldn’t mind his daughter being a carpet munched. Can’t get worse then Cruz on the subject.

Cruz only said what any parent would say, that he loved his daughters unconditionally.

Who is this “best friend” of Cruz you keep slandering?

Racine, Madison and Milwaukee are Sanctuary cities. Dane County is a Sanctuary County. If he wants credibility on illegal immigration, he needs to clean up his own state.

Liar.

Walker signed legislation to outlaw sanctuary cities.

Nice try, you slimy Cruz supporter.

You need to produce proof of that legislation. See “Sanctuary Cities Should Enforce Federal Law”.

I think Walker is an example of the Peter Principle at work. An outstanding Governor, in my opinion, but now he wants to take it to the next level. And yet, from all indications so far, it appears he’s not ready. He was very on-point as a Governor. He had a solid grasp of the problems facing his state, and the courage and smarts to take them on.

But on the national level, the way he changes his positions so often, it seems to me like he hasn’t given these issues that much though. For that matter, he doesn’t seem to be particularly passionate about them. How passionate can you be on an issue when you’ve changed your position so often over the last 6 months.

Find a strong reason you want to be President, beyond just wanting to be President, and communicate that to the people. If you can’t do that, if you’re only running because you think it’s the next thing to do, then you’re not ready.

Sounds to me you are talking about Cruz and/or Trump.

No, actually I was talking about Walker, who so far, unlike Cruz and Trump, has showed no real passion for the issues facing the nation. Don’t be hurt. I like Walker. Maybe next time around he will have a good reason to run.

Scott Walker scores pretty high from what I’ve heard from him.

He doesn’t fire up a crowd the way Trump does but he seems clearer about the fact that government is not the solution, it’s the problem.

Is FR going to trash this guy too? He seems to have a great track record for just about everything we need, MOSTLY CUTTING the $4 trillion federal government and eventually putting it back into its constitutional cage where it belongs.

He laid out some specific plans tonight on Hannity that sounded good to me. Is there evidence that his guy is a GOPe guy? Doesn’t come across that way.

We’re in for another doozy of a primary season here on FR.

I’m so glad I’m zen about it now.

Walker has governed more conservative than when Ronald Reagan was governor of California.

Walker never apologizes for his conservatism. Even among his family, he will not back gay marriage.

The destructive talk comes from Cruz supporters almost exclusively. They are really mental and think they must do this to prop Cruz up.

I’ve listened to rush almost every day since Hiroshima Day 1989. I’ve heard him talk about candidates and he even told his listeners to vote for Buchanan in 1992 to send Bush 41 and the rest of the establishment Republicans a message. But he generally does not promote Republican candidates in the primary season. He does let us know what he should expect from candidates if they are to be successful in the election and in governing.

There are, to be sure, some candidates that he has ignored this time around. Santorum and Hucklebery to name two. But what chance do either of them have?

This is what the problem is.

He ISNT EXCITING. People will not care about a bunch of bullet points of what he did in Wisconsin on such and such state policy, nor are they voting based on so dry policy outlines given in a TV interview.

Hillary (or whomever) is going to whip up her base with lots of fiery rhetoric. Scott Walker will put people to sleep.

Why does the Walker side on FR not understand this?

Yawn...

I’m sorry but he can’t win.

New York and California will be in the Clinton camp if this happens.

I saw that, #62 , definitely getting territorial and entertaining.

Waiting for the first comment claiming that Cruz is gay himself, Walker too. Only Trump is OK.

Do you get the impression that Trump has at least temporary grabbed the ‘Only guy we can trust to kick their butts’ mantle from Cruz in many heads posting here??

Thanks for the sensible reply Eric. I’m gradually moving away from FR because it does seem like a bit of a nut house sometimes, especially when it comes to political candidates and certain “pet” issues. IMO it’s a microcosm of America’s #1 problem: a spiritual malaise seen in the trust in and worship of man, looking for some kind of political savior instead of trusting the Lord and looking to Him, not man, for deliverance.

Having said that, I am interested in who’s running but I don’t look for perfection nor do I believe America’s answer is embodied in some politician somewhere. America has, is, and always will be, about the American People and their faith which has slipped causing them to have let go of the reigns of THEIR country, THEIR freedom, and THEIR Constitution. I pray this will change.

As far as Walker goes, I liked what I heard about significantly dismantling the feds and sending it back to the states. YES!!! To me that is the #1 political issue of our time. He seems to have a Reagan vision and a Reagan record. I’m concerned about him having enough of a Reagan ability to communicate effectively, passionately, and confrontationally enough to move a country to vote for him and I wonder if he can go 15 rounds toe to toe with Hillary and her premise of women and minority representation.

Walker says the things I wish Trump would say. Trump is so confrontational and IMO, it’s time for the Right to be absolutely confrontational. Trump wins on that score IMO. I wish it was Walker in Trump’s body.
