The lot of the poor economy-class airline customer has never been a happy one: there's the food (or lack of), cramped conditions, loud noises and being just that bit too close for comfort to your fellow passengers.
However, things could get a whole lot worse, if one company's designs are adopted.
Named the "Economy Class Cabin Hexagon", the design aims to switch up seating arrangements, by placing airline seats in different directions in order to improve space and "increase cabin density."

Why would anyone fly these days? If I can’t afford business class or above, I’m just not going by air.

Trying to visualize evacuation in an emergency.
Late the pass month very early this month, flew to and from western PA to attend a Bible conference. Because of my physical issues, had sat in the front or very close to. The planes were packed or very close to being packed. Managed to make it.
Next step: my feet on your shoulders and vice-versa.
How in such an arrangement would and aircraft ever be able to pass the evacuation time requirements?

Now, I imagine that its like a bus in Central America on one of those mountain roads with no guardrail.
