Alfredo Ramos was ordered to serve 24 years in prison and then be deported for the drunken driving crash that killed two teenage girls in March.
If he tries to return to the country, he faces additional time, a judge said Monday.
The 22-year-old apologized for what his drinking caused that night. Speaking through a translator, he asked that justice be even.
I never in my life thought that that day something terrible would happen, Ramos told Circuit Judge Thomas Shadrick. I dont have anything to pay with. The only thing I have is my life.
Shadrick assured Ramos he would not make an emotional decision, but he said the case was not like the others in which the sentencing guidelines call for between four and 10 years .
Your act of getting behind the wheel demonstrates a gross disregard for every person in this community, Shadrick said. This is a case that clearly warrants going beyond the guidelines.

If all he has is his life, I’d take that as payment...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!
He’ll be out in 12 years and he’ll be back in the country a week after that. If he’s caught he’ll walk.
Does the governmemnt, at this point, really expect us to believe this garbage?
Good thing he’s not a productive taxpayer and a legal citizen. He would have gotten 40 years, no parole.
Not in Virginia, he won't.
I dont have anything to pay with. The only thing I have is my life.
Which is more than his victims......
Laws are only for citizens.
Fraudulently documented foreigners shouldall get a pass, ask Yeb Bush, Marco Rubberio, etc.
Ironically, at the time, it was the REPUBLICAN leader of the Virginia Senate, who represented that district, that was a big amnesty supporter.
When the girls were killed and public outroar erupted, he started acting like he was shocked.
Sadly, he quit the Senate and to get a second retirement is now the Sheriff of Virginia Beach. Illegals there have little to worry about.
Will he be pardoned?
load him up with c4 and send him to the cartel’s headquarters.Which cartel, you may ask..
I would not be surprised............
