Background checks for gun sales spiked 11% in June compared to last year, making it the busiest June ever, according to the FBI's background check data.

Last month the FBI conducted nearly 1.53 million background checks, which are required for all in-store purchases, but not for sales at gun shows or between individuals. That's the highest volume of checks in June since 1999, when the FBI started keeping track.

Gun background checks have climbed annually since 2003 with the exception of just three years, one of which was 2014, indicating a clear jump in gun sales.

What to do with all these guns.Another 1.53 million in one month,I bet there’s some pretty nervous evil-doers out there right now.

OK, but what good are guns with bullets chronically in short supply?

I bought an FNX45 Tactical in June, but also have 3 Kimbers. While on their website in the past month, I noticed this beauty.....may have to make this my next purchase:

That’s gorgeous. We bought the Stainless Raptor IIs. Mrs L has the full size while I opted for the 4” version.

Next up is a pair of Ultra Carries. Nothing says “go bother someone else” quite like staring down the barrel of a .45.

Kimbers are pricey, but they shoot like a dream. Accurate right out of the box and once they’re broken in they have fired every weight and style of bullet without a hiccup.

My Colt Commander now gets fired a whole lot less often.

Geez, next thing you will tell be to roll my own cigarettes.
I have worked hard so I can take it easy in my golden years.
I do not change oil in my car myself anymore, and rather eat out than cook.

Why is the gov’t buying up so much ammo and creating shortages?
Obummer will do anything to destroy 2nd Amendment rights.

The Raptors are beautiful guns, always loved them....anything in stainless.

I have an Ultra CDP that I bought to replace an Ultra Crimson which was stolen several years back:

I carry this when I wear jeans and a belt which is about 7 months of the year. For the other times, I carry my LCP or my Sig P238 engraved edition).

This is the setup I have (well, 2/3rds of).....have the gun and the Trijicon RMR purchased in June of this year. Now I just need the suppressor.

15 rounds of 45 ACP with optics for fast acquisition and follow-up shots.....now there is a war gun if I ever herd of one.

Me too. My Commander is a stainless version. Mrs Ls favorite revolver is stainless, an S&W Model 629, 4 inch.

Until I get the Kimber my daily carry is a Sprinfield XDs in .45.

http://www.springfield-armory.com/products/xd-s-3-3-45-acp/

It ain’t as pretty as a Kimber but I wanted something right away and the used one was priced too good to pass up. It had all the factory stuff and 2 6 round and 2 7 round magazines. All for less than $500.

So the penny jar is the Kimber Carry fund. A couple months and they will be ours. LOL.

Jackson Leather makes some beautiful holsters. There’s a 3-4 month wait but man oh man a they nice. Each one hand crafted by an old school leather expert. If you aren’t aware of his work I recommend you check him out.

Best,

L

“not for sales at gun shows or between individuals.”

The article starts with a false premise. The vast majority of sales at gun shows require a background check, because most of the sales at gun shows are through dealers.

Sales between individuals that are not federally licensed do not generally require a background check. That is the safety valve that prevents the background checks from becoming a registration system.

Indeed.

If background checks were in place during the time of the founding of this nation, the Founding Fathers would have been executed by the British with that information.

“Geez, next thing you will tell be to roll my own cigarettes.”

Why not. I do. A carton ends up costing me about 12 bucks. And they taste better. And I get to deprive the state and the Feds taxes. That’s always a good thing.

Only thing in short supply is .22LR. Ammo and components are plentiful, until the next panic.
