a declining base of users

I live in a 20-unit apartment complex. About 1/3 are older folks and 2/3 are younger singles or families.

I notice that many of the young households have at least one smoker.

I thought all the years of educating from the Tobacco Settlement money 2 decades ago would be the end of cigs. [/s]

I quit in 2003 after nearly 40 years of smoking. At today's prices, I figure I save around $250-300 per month. Increased prices, primarily due to increased taxes, was instrumental my quitting.

What is her plan as revenues dry up when consumption decreases?

We are already way beyond that. Materials + labor a pack of smokes can probably be sold profitably for around $1.50. Can’t find them retail in virtually any state for less than $5.

The most effective way is to ban their manufacture, sale, and possession. After all, this works for drugs, doesn’t it?

No, it doesn't.

Just ban the sh!t altogether. Ban it, stomp it out and then figure out what the hell to do with the lost punitive taxes. Hypocrites.

LOL! Yeah, let’s take a legal product and tax the crap out of it and push users into dark corners while pushing for the legalization of another inhaled product, which is currently illegal by the feds, and bring it in to the light. Haven’t seen too many “truth” ads to keep kids away from marijuana. So, in another 50 years are we going to see (I won’t see them) studies showing the bad side effects from long term use of pot?

When I used to smoke a pack of Marlboros were twenty five cents at the Walgreens on fourth street in Louisville. They’ve gone up?
