Republican South Carolina Sen. Lee Bright started off a debate about the Confederate flag by denouncing the Supreme Courts same-sex marriage ruling and calling on people of faith in South Carolina to rise up.
I heard our president sing a religious hymn, and then Friday night I watched the White House be lit up in the abomination colors, Bright said on the South Carolina Senate floor Monday. Its time weve got amazing grace, weve got people in the stands here of faith its time for the church to rise up. Its time for the state of South Carolina to rise up.
The South Carolina Senate is considering a fresh bid to remove the Confederate flag from statehouse grounds, following the deadly Charleston church shooting that killed nine.
Our governor called us in to deal with the flag that sits out front, Bright added. Lets deal with the national sin that we face today. We talk about abortion, but this gay marriage thing, I believe, will be one nation gone under.
He was referring to a quote from former President Ronald Reagan: If were not one nation under God, well be one nation gone under.
We can rally together and talk about a flag all we want, Bright added, picking up steam. But the devil is taking control of this land, and were not stopping him. Its time to make our stand let South Carolina discuss it.
Bright said its important not to legitimize or respect same-sex marriage and to protect religious liberty, and mentioned the state getting out of the marriage business altogether as one course of action. I believe that Christ teaches us to love the homosexual, but he also teaches us to stand in the gap against sin, and we need to make our stand, he said.
I know how people feel of all colors about this, and I know we need to respect our brother and love our brother, he continued. But we cannot respect this sin in the state of South Carolina.
If were not going to find some way to push back against the federal government like our forefathers did, or push back against a tyrannical government like the founders of this nation did, lets at least not put these citizens of South Carolina in a position where theyve got to choose between their faith and their jobs.
What does he mean by “rise up”? Secession? Nullification? Article V Convention? Revolution?
‘’Rise and rise again until lambs become lions’’
If were not one nation under God, well be one nation gone under.
Reagan made more sense with that one statemtent than Obama and his “gay” cronies have made in their entire LIVES
Good for him.
Obama is the first gay president. He makes me ashamed of my country.
Lee Bright ping ...
Moochie is the first tranny.
If CA can refuse to obey immigration laws, and CO can refuse to obey the drug laws, why should SC obey homosexual marriage I laws made illegitimately by the SCOTUS? God bless this brave champion for freedom and the Christian faith.
Sounds good to me.
Conservative speech is now ranting, to the left.
SC can just say it’s a sanctuary state for Christians and ignore the law of the land.
I’d vote for that one. Wish there were thousands more like him.
if they’re banning the confederate flag because it offends some people...
then they should be ok with banning the fag flag as it offends tens of millions
if they won’t ban the fag flag... then they need to stfu
Moochie is the missing link anthropologists have been looking for.
The only colors which should be lit up on the white house is red, white, and blue.
Here is what was written by someone on FB
The White House
Is not just the house of those who are gay or who are not gay.
It is not the house of just blacks, whites, hispanics, or any other nationality or race.
It is not the house of just men or of just women.
It is not just the house of Christians or Jews or any other religion.
It is not just the house of Atheists or Agnostics.
It is not just the house of any one person.
It is not just the house of any one political party.
It certainly is not President Obama’s house; it may be his home for now; but it is not his house alone.
It is the house of We, the People.
It is OUR house.
It belongs to any, and all of us, who are American Citizens.
It belongs to those who have lived before us; for their history is a part of the story of our Country.
To fly the colors of a rainbow flag on our house is to put another flag before our American one.
No flag comes before the Red, White, and Blue.
Not on OUR house.
Not in OUR country.
To have OUR White House decorated in any other colors than red, white and blue took away from the dignity of what OUR house represents.
To have OUR White House decorated in the fancy colors of the rainbow makes our country look weak and fanciful to the rest of world.
To have OUR White House done up in the fancy colors of a rainbow, and not the colors of our American Flag, was and is an insult to all those who wore, or still wear, the uniform of one of our military branches.
All gave some, some gave all, but not for a rainbow flag that represents a few; they gave it because they served and carried the American Flag that represents ALL of us who are We, the People of the United States of America. No matter our color, our creed, or our sexual preference, it belongs to US as Americans.
If any colors should be projected onto OUR house, by OUR President, they should be red, white and blue to honor those men and women who fought to make us free, fight to keep us free and those who voluntarily serve or served, in our military knowing that they could pay the ultimate sacrifice by doing so.
The colors flown on Our house should not celebrate anything other than what brings us together; and that is our Citizenship, our Freedoms, and our Pride and Love of this Country.
The colors that fly on OUR house should respect those who came before us, inspire those of us who live now, and give us hope for the future of citizens not yet born, that this country will stand strong and stay free; and those colors are Red, White and Blue.
They are not the colors of Rainbow Brite.
Oh! say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
~Francis Scott Key, The Star-Spangled Banner
Somebody gets it. Bright should be the Senator for all of SC, not that pansy-ass creep, Linda.
Welcome to “New” America. Going down the abyss!
