When Trump announced he was seriously thinking about a run he was supported by at most 25% of freepers on any post about him.

Then Trump jumped up to 50% of freepers supporting him.

Then he was at perhaps 70%

Now he’s got perhaps 85% of freepers at least considering him a viable choice.

I say that within 90 days his support here will be almost total unless Cruz picks up a lot of steam. (I sure hope he does!)

Many qualify their support with a statement like “He’s an idiot but at least he is brave enough to speak the truth” or
“He’s not my idea of an ideal candidate but I like what he’s doing”

Soon however most freepers will drop the qualifiers and just say he’s their man.

The GOP should be fielding several great conservative candidates. The only one I consider worthy is Cruz... and even he gave me a fright when he toyed with supporting the insane secret trade deal...Oy Vey

People are desperate for a fighter that will voice their values. So far only Trump and Cruz come anywhere close.

Conservatives have a massive hatred for the MSM. If the MSM is attacking a candidate that is a signal that the target of the attacks is a worthy choice. The MSM will make Trump unstoppable if they keep up the hysterical attacks against him. Ditto the attacks on Trump from the GOPe... if they hate someone then that someone just can’t be all bad.

Trump may not have been totally committed at the beginning but as the price he pays rises from the boycotts and personal attacks against him by the MSM and the GOPe his
allegiance to the race will solidify. A point will be reached where he will be all in, do or die.

If the GOPe manages to get Jeb! in as the nominee by screwing over Trump and Cruz in some underhanded way then I predict they will face a three way race with Trump running under a different party banner.

Imagine Hillary, Jeb! and Trump in a debate. Trump will win such a debate. Hillary and Jeb! are not worthy and will look very bad up there on that stage.

If Trump runs 3rd party I predict a three way electoral college split that would probably have to be decided by the House. IMO this is the ONLY possible way Jeb! could win... by being selected by the GOPe dominated House.

If Jeb! must be the loser the GOPe puts up then I say I’d prefer he came in 3rd rather than 2nd. There’s no way he wins in a two way race anyway.

Good post. Speaking of the hysterical press I see a New Mexico paper along with the ASSoc. Press advocating going after Trump’s PGA golfing interests.

Unfortunatly, Strump is very good at hiding his true leanings. Many here do not remember his embracing the Clinton while they held the white house. The trumpster is pulling a Perot. How soon we forget.

People are funny. They prattle on for years saying they hate illegal immigration and trade that is bad for the U. S.

Then you get a man who addresses these issues on point, tells it like it is brutally honestly and these same folks rather than say they don’t care for him but he’s exactly right, they just simply fall on the floor kicking and screaming and seek to draw all the attention in the room to themselves instead of good policy.

I’m not even convinced Trump’s policy is solid, but the man is focusing on the number one and two problems facing this nation, and he’s doing in a manner that demands attention from the media.

Everyone in the nation today is talking about illegal immigration because one man put a spotlight on it.

The thanks he gets is for some folks who consider themselves to be Conservatives to trash him non-stop.

This would be comical enough in and of itself, but these same folks just love Ted Cruz. They say they really respect him. The absolutely incredible thing is, Cruz - their go to hero’s take on Trump.

He doesn’t trash him for being a Leftist. He says Trump is exactly right. SAY WHAT?

Yep, Cruz backs Trumps emphasis on Illegal immigration.

FReepers who love Cruz and hate Trump have steam coming out their ears on the subject of Trump. These people hate the man with a passion. They can’t talk civilly about him. They can’t talk academically about him. He’s got horns and a tail according to them.

So do they really respect Cruz or not? I mean gee folks, if you truly do hate Trump this much and are convinced he’s next to Satan, how does this affect your appreciation for Cruz?

If Cruz is this clueless, considering how you see Trump, doesn’t this disqualify Cruz for you as a man who truly grasps Conservatism?

Think about that! Really sit back and think about it.

The list of dastardly things Trump has done is miles long. “Why any Conservative should know!” These people have so demonized Trump, that there can only be one verdict for anyone who actually thinks he makes sense on a subject. I’ve had this explained to me here in no uncertain terms.

Okay folks, if that’s how you feel, then when Cruz says he agrees with Trump, he can’t be someone you can follow any longer. Just scratch him right off your list big mouths.

If a guy can say one good things about Trump, he’s not a true Conservative. That’s what you’ve been implying to me.

So be true to your core beliefs folks. Cruz is out. Who are you going to back now?

Trump is right. Cruz is right to back his play on illegal immigration.

Thinking people will grasp what I just touched on.

Those who can’t will continue to act like the children they have been acting like for the last week.

Ted Cruz is a good man, and I think he deserves the respect these people will show no one else who actually thinks like Ted does.

Still, if they’re as anti-Trump as they say they are, I can’t stop them for hating Cruz now. I’ll just think they are about as stupid as they have shown themselves to be over the last week here.

And Ted Cruz would be shocked to know it.

FReepers are supposed be thinkers and a cut above.

Let's hope none of the big names go third party. Then we all lose and Hillary will be anointed.
Trump is saying what we all know to be true.
Whether or not he is for real remains to be seen.

he toyed with supporting the insane secret trade deal

He did support giving Hussein virtual plenary powers for dealing with Iran. I am still ambivalent because of that and that it took pressure from the right to have make him back away from the trade thing.

I had some harsh words for trump and I was wrong. Never did I think he would serve his nation so courageously at the risk if his fortune. Again, I was wrong. If he continues on this path he will surely reep financial consequences but he will have a supporter for life. And his name, with this risk, would be recognized along with those before him who risked their fortunes for the cause of liberty. Let’s see how far he takes is before I add their names to posts with his.

I wrote about this recently:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3307009/posts

I thought it was pretty sound advice for the GOP and conservative thinkers. But just as the AP floats an article about Hispanic ‘groups’ demanding the GOP condemn Trump, it starts within 36 hours - right on cue.

IMO, Bush and Rubio have just disqualified themselves. (I never took Graham seriously anyway). In fact, here’s how a typical RINO politician could be dealing with the matter, when pressured by the media:

“...allow me to clarify what I think Mr. Trump was getting at: We’ve heard reports from our own border patrol about the flood of people crossing our southern border, and lax policies of other agencies that allow criminals on the streets. This is not to point a finger at Mexican Americans, or Hispanics in general. But the Mexican must bare some of the responsibility for this problem. I’m sure as many Latinos have come here for a better live, they don’t want those to may life terrible following them here.

... Mr Trump and I disagree on many issues, and I look forward to these debates. But instead of beating up on another republican, we should thank him for speaking out on an important issue that effects all Americans...”

I feel another rant coming soon...

Underhanded techniques overtly used will essentially kill the gop under the scenario you outline. A worthy and laudable goal I must admit, but I don’t think they’re that stupid. They’ll do what they can to sandbag Trump. If by some chance he is elected, they’ll do what they can to sabotage his agenda. Sort of like how they did under Reagan.

Ultimately the question mark is Trump. Is he really willing to go to the mattresses for this?

For the most part I agree with your assessment.

Although I don't think Trump will take Cruz on this web site unless Cruz gets knocked out. Then maybe. It depends how Walker is doing?

I am thinking a Cruz/Trump 2016 ticket , or if Cruz some how gets dropped out of the Primaries...

Then a Trump/Cruz (to get the state of Texas and the rest of the South) presidency would be a great counter compare to the last 8 years of Obama.

IMO Donald is a good attack dog and an excellent bomb thrower. I’m enjoying his role as a candidate that says whatever is on the top of his mind and is not afraid to say it. I don’t think he would win in the general, but you never know. Right now I’m a bigger fan of the systematic tear downs that Ted Cruz engages in with other candidates, he’s as effective as Trump but he comes across as more refined.

Trump just helped take out Rubio.

Maybe he will last long enough to take out Jeb too.
