Workforce to shrink as baby boomers retire, birth rates fall
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | June 27, 2015 | Natasha Lindstrom

It's a national dilemma: Birth rates rose slightly in 2014 but are not high enough to sustain population levels, just as employers brace for the largest generation ever to retire in droves.

The oldest of 75 million baby boomers — born between 1946 and 1964 — turn 69 this year.

If you were wondering why both parties embrace immigration (no fence agendas, no real fights, etc)...this is the basic reason. The system for social security and taxes....wasn’t built for a declining population.

In age, Boomers range from Sarah Palin at 51 years of age, to Donald Trump, at age 69.

That isn’t why, the democrats needed immigration to survive, now that we have a 100 million immigrants and their kids, and another 200 million on the way, it is almost impossible to resist them politically, so politicians have a tough time with the issue.

It takes voters to destroy America.

John F. Kennedy had a dream to replace the American people with foreign voters, a different kind of voter, the importation of an endless supply of democrat voters.

“However, if there is one man who can take the most credit for the 1965 act, it is John F. Kennedy. Kennedy seems to have inherited the resentment his father Joseph felt as an outsider in Boston’s WASP aristocracy. He voted against the McCarran-Walter Act of 1952, and supported various refugee acts throughout the 1950s.

In 1958 he wrote a book, A Nation of Immigrants, which attacked the quota system as illogical and without purpose, and the book served as Kennedy’s blueprint for immigration reform after he became president in 1960. In the summer of 1963, Kennedy sent Congress a proposal calling for the elimination of the national origins quota system. He wanted immigrants admitted on the basis of family reunification and needed skills, without regard to national origin.

After his assassination in November, his brother Robert took up the cause of immigration reform, calling it JFK’s legacy. In the forward to a revised edition of A Nation of Immigrants, issued in 1964 to gain support for the new law, he wrote, “I know of no cause which President Kennedy championed more warmly than the improvement of our immigration policies.” Sold as a memorial to JFK, there was very little opposition to what became known as the Immigration Act of 1965.”

More and more seniors continue to work after they retire from long held jobs. Don’t know how they are counted or if they are. My wife and I are self-employed. I’m 68. Don’t think I’m counted as employed. Of course, she might challenge that designation.

Good luck!

As an industrial electrician of 30 years now, our department can't even find a qualified candidate to fill the four open spots we have. They tried hiring some out of the military because of cost sharing programs, but they couldn't even wire up a starter, motor, program or edit plc programs, hot wire a starter coil, etc....

They are also dangerous, so they cannot work alone on shift. Most manufacturing plants keep one electrician on shift at a time. That means you must work alone and know exactly what you are doing and what the hazards may be. Such people are becoming very scarce.

You are correct. SS cannot sustain without millions of illegal immigrants.

The left F-d up again and aborted everybody. They will gladly take those of working age to shore up their pie in the sky socialism.

You know, if they’d hire American citizens, there might just be a tad few more jobs filled. You know, those millions of people not counted in the ridiculous unemployment number?

Just a few.

It took me years to accept, but i now believe you are correct on this. The urgent need for millions of new wage earners has outweighed the importance of keeping Americans on the job, even taken priority over the rule of law.

By the logic of the left I am sure they view us boomers as a negative to both their dream system and their economic goals. We are dealing with people who believe that there is no afterlife and no judgement, by their lights what is the difference if they take us out. We are just a drag on their perfect world. Expect the worse.

Too true, the vanishing few Gen X/Y/Z-millenial FReepers (that have not been zotted) that only wanted to spew hate at not getting jobs they thought should be theirs for the taking.

There was some Brokebackridge weirdo here that got the zot that constanlty railed on Booomers as the reason he could not get a job regardless of him (by his accounting) being a rocket scientist among other amazing things.

Never a hint that maybe the problem was with he being am azzhole.

I think you can even use Greece as an example. Where the social security net was loosen enough to allow people to ID themselves as blind and get early retirement...no one said much and it was allowed. You have thousands of Greeks who are legally identified as blind, own cars, and regularly drive....which ought to be impossible unless the blindess was a fraud. We’ve taken social security and done the same thing.

Where I grew up as a kid....there’s a mid-40’s guy who spent two years with some effort to get himself signed off as disabled. They finally approved the guy’s paperwork at social security, and I’d take a guess that he pulls in around $1,100 a month. The guy does drywall on the side and gets paid in cash for his effort. People look at this and just shake their heads. I’d take a guess that across the US....we probably have a quarter-million people on fake disability.

In the end, you have to fill that social security pot as quickly as possible because someone is emptying the pot as quickly as possible. At some junction one day....the pot will be empty, and then what?

The left did eff up and abort everyone. Of course, if they had not aborted and had raised their spawn, what are the chances that they would be any more conservative or any better citizens than the illegal aliens?

When the ponzi scheme begins to crack, then they will use the great inflation to balance the books just like they always have. Remember the 70's when we went off the gold standard and moved to the petrodollar?
