Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) upstaged ‘em all at a rally in Madison, Wis., on Wednesday night.
In fact, he put the number of people who showed up for Hillary Clinton’s official campaign announcement to shame.
Sanders nearly filled the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center, which seats 10,231 people; the Associated Press put a 10,000 estimate on the crowd. About 5,500 people were on New York’s Roosevelt Island for Clinton’s carefully orchestrated launch.
Tonight we have made a little bit of history, Sanders told the crowd with a simple blue Bernie banner backdrop. Tonight, we have more people at a meeting for a candidate for president of the United States than any other candidate.”
This campaign is not about Bernie Sanders. It is not about Hillary Clinton or anybody else. It is about you. It is about putting together a grassroots movement of millions of people to make sure the government works for all of us and not a handful of wealthy campaign contributors.
His speech proposed a $1 trillion infrastructure investment, single-payer healthcare for all, free four-year college for all, 12 weeks of paid baby leave for new mothers and fathers, and a massive jobs program to hire young people.
Sanders told the crowd their job is “to redistribute wealth back into the hands of working families.”
Supporters made #Madison a trending topic on Twitter, as well as the hashtag #FeelTheBern.

this old socialist is going to see the wrath of hillary here very very soon....
Bernie, a little advice..... You need to state unambigiously that you are not suicidal and that any investigation of your future suicide should be investigated as a possible murder....

oh my gosh.....
Good. The only energy in the Democratic party is among the Marxists anyway. Maybe this guy has a shot, assuming Hillary doesn’t have him killed. Then even the Republicans could point out that the Democrats are actually a bunch of Marxists.
It will be interesting to see whether the Democrats go for the naive ideologue or the corrupt crone.
“His speech proposed a $1 trillion infrastructure investment,”
That’s so 2009.

It is downright laughable that 10,000 numbnuts come out to hear an ancient socialist who has accomplished nothing of note, and who is running for President.
After President No Papers, why not?
“Free four year college”
Wow. He’s going to get those Democrat professors and administrators to work for free.
Would not be surprised if Bernie has an “accident” or a sudden, incapacitating health problem.
RE: Wow. Hes going to get those Democrat professors and administrators to work for free
Bernie is also unhappy with the current tax rate for high income earners. He wants it to be 90%.
A stacked deck for Bernie. Madison is full of commies.
Guess that’s why she’s beating him by 40 points in most polls.
This is all a ploy to make her Thighness look like a regular working class American. It will “require” her to come out with more conservative views to separate her from him (we all know she will be lying), the people hearing this and then comparing it to the hard left social rant the centrists, Reagan democrats, and left lean independents will believe her about American values and policies then vote for the hag.
Yes, the obvious play is for this guy to make Hillary seem moderate by comparison. I’m just hoping that, with the hard left shift of the party and her stunning level of corruption and ridiculous lack of likability, he might gain more traction than the DNC master had wanted.
In the People's Republic of Madison, 10k Socialists gathering to drool on command is no big deal.
It’s The People’s Republic of Madistan afterall. Berzerkley of the north.
Gotta hand it to Ol’ Bernie though, he’s not hiding his intentions like Hillary is. He’s like Obama on the stump, says what he means and means what he says.
