Episcopalians voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to allow religious weddings for same-sex couples, solidifying the church's embrace of gay rights that began more than a decade ago with the pioneering election of the first openly gay bishop.

[Did Jesus have any words on being gay?]

Read the Bible. Jesus IS the Word.

Romans chapter 1 addresses the issue.

Jesus affirmed the union between one man and one woman.

Paul wrote against it.

They are a synagogue of Satan. They are celebrating and promoting homosexual sex over the will of God.

What indeed. This may be yet another reason to decouple marriage from being both a civil ceremony and a religious one. Perhaps both will end up being judged as “legitimate, but not the same”. Allowing both sides to move on without constant tort and litigation. Perhaps the only thing both will demand is a ‘marriage license’ so that it becomes a publicly known fact, known by Health Insurers and the IRS, in particular.

Coming soon to a Catholic Parish near you (unfortunately). It is a Hobson’s Choice situation, where there is no fully good choice.

Not a chance....Catholics believe in Sacramental marriage and 2 persons of the same sex are not qualified to receive the Sacrament.....a woman is not qualified to receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders.....it will never happen.

FROM THE ANGLICAN CHURCH IN NORTH AMERICA (STRAIGHT EPISCOPALIANS’ CHURCH)

Bishops’ Statement on Supreme Court Ruling

“From the Beginning”: God’s Design for Marriage

The Archbishop and Bishops of the Anglican Church in North America have received the recent ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States of America and are deeply grieved by the stark departure from God’s revealed order. We are concerned for the inevitable results from this action to change the legal understanding of marriage and family life.

While this decision grieves us, God’s truth and the goodness of the order established in creation have not been changed. The kingdom of God cannot be shaken. We pray with confidence that God will reveal his glory, love, goodness, and hope to the world through his Church as we seek to follow him in faith and obedience.

Jesus Christ teaches that God is the author of marriage from the beginning of time (Matthew 19:4-6). God’s design for marriage has always involved a man and a woman: “a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). These truths have ordered civilization for thousands of years. Where God’s designs are followed in any society, including his designs for marriage and families, the result is the greatest possible blessing and abundance of life.

The Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is often summarized as, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Because of his love, we love and care for all those who experience same-sex attraction. The Anglican Church in North America continues to welcome everyone to experience the transforming love of Jesus Christ.

Marriage is established by God for the procreation and raising of children and for the good of society. For this reason, governments have an interest in marriage and have delegated authority from God to protect and regulate it. But no court, no legislature and no local magistrate has the authority to redefine marriage and to impose this definition on their citizens.

The United States of America, so its founders believed and taught, is a nation under God whose citizens’ fundamental rights are derived from the Creator. There is no right to a relationship which is contrary to the Creator’s express design. . .

i think you are on to something profound. If the “legal agreement’ of civil “marriage” is separated completely from all religion then we may have a solution. The legal agreement is one thing. Sanctified “marriage” is another. we should all have the same legal rights but churches have the ability to sanctify or not.

When He said that He came not to replace the law but to fulfill it He made clear that He agreed with the Old Testament. The Old Testament is pretty clear on being gay. The behavior is an abomination unto the Lord.

But that was Paul. No gospel reports of Jesus with any views, Right? Have just been re-reading the gospels. What a marvelous story. What a true leader for the ages.

So why be a Church at all? You serve no purpose anymore for Jesus Christ

It is a Hobson’s Choice situation, where there is no fully good choice.

Could you explain why following God's Word on the subject is not a fully good choice.

The legal agreement is one thing.

This isn't about homosexuals. It's about the children who are raised by them and denied access to half of their natural families.

Even worse is the fate of adopted children who will be raised by two homosexual STRANGERS.

Marriage is defined by procreation and the lifetime commitment of the spouses. Homosexuals can't "marry." We have to defend reality.

The communists want to annihilate the natural family. It's the greatest defense against the omnipotent state. Marx and Engels HATED the family.

gay marriage

Reject and deny the term. It's a "bitch-hitch".

Episcopalians...churches

That filth isn't a church.

[But that was Paul.]

Holy Spirit told Paul what to write.

Jesus is the Word. Anything that is written in the Bible is under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Himself warns against sexual sin. Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Homosexuality is a sexual sin.

2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Catholics believe in Sacramental marriage and 2 persons of the same sex are not qualified to receive the Sacrament....

So did the Episcopalians, once...

it will never happen.

Lots of things were never going to happen, until they actually did...you have absolutely no idea what the future will bring...
