Macy's cuts ties with Trump over Mexican immigration comments
Los Angeles Times ^ | July 1, 2015 | By Stephen Battaglio

Macy's is joining the line of companies cutting ties with Donald Trump over the real estate mogul's comments about Mexican immigrants.

In this case, it's neckties. The retailer has marketed a line of menswear with the Trump label since 2004. But in a statement issued Wednesday, Macy's said it was "disappointed and distressed" over Trump's June 16 remarks regarding U.S. immigration policy in which he made derogatory remarks about Mexicans. He said Mexican immigrants were bringing drug and crime into the U.S.

"We have no tolerance for discrimination in any form," Macy's said in a statement.

Trump made the comments at the kickoff of his campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination and has been taking heat ever since.

Trump has already lost business from Univision, which will not air the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. NBC, Trump's partners in the pageants, has also announced it will sever ties with Trump, and will keep him off his hit reality show "Celebrity Apprentice." Mexican TV companies Televisa and TV Ora have also parted ways with Trump.

The move by Macy's is a sign that the Trump brand name, a major source of income for the billionaire, is becoming tarnished as a result of the controversy.

The ties and shirts in the Trump line were still on the Macy's website Wednesday at discounted prices. . .

Giving up a lot for his stupidity. Now he says he cancelled Macy’s because he didn’t realize the clothes were made in China. LOL.

"We have no tolerance for discrimination in any form," Macy's said in a statement.

I'm not sure how making a statement is discrimination.

This has the makings of a new boycott exercise. Find all the companies dropping Trump and then drop them with the explanation that they are discriminating against the truth and you won’t do business with liars.

Except discrimination about different viewpoints, it seems.

could be a good thing....Trunp’s clothes are garbage and he makes his money from real estate...he’s just the sort of guy to point out the hypocrisy, “Macy’s won’t do business with me because of alleged discrimination but they are doing business with A/B/C/D who engage in A/B/C/D”...

“Macy’s said it was “disappointed and distressed” over Trump’s June 16 remarks regarding U.S. immigration policy in which he made derogatory remarks about Mexicans.”

Macy’s is soon going to be even more disappointed and distressed when they go bankrupt. They have been hanging on by a thread for several years. They, JC Penney’s and Sears will soon be gone.

This is obviously orchestrated by the Clinton camp.

Telling the truth is now discrimination?

Macy’s has never spoken out like this. They mean to censor Trump and his message.

Macy’s should lose a lot of customers of their overpriced merchandise over this.

And Trump should find a new outlet for his ties.

Between suing Univision, NB and Macy’s, Trump will be able to self fund his campaign without using any of his own money.

Using the Left’s money against them, I like that strategy.

Macy's has no tolerance for discrimination? How about discrimination against US workers? They charge more for merchandise from cheap labor countries than it would cost to make a profit on made in USA merchandise.

Why do I say that? Check out made-in-USA websites and clothing manufacturers such as American Giant. Higher quality, comparable prices.

Macy’s is a dinosaur, lumbering through the 21st century.

It’s like saying K-Mart is dropping a vendor.

Who is getting hurt the most?

Yet, it still makes headlines, because the media hates Trump and success.

He didn’t build that!
