The New York Times has a consistent position on art that offends religions.
1. Mohammed cartoons will not appear
2. Works mocking Christianity and Judaism will
Briefly New York Times editor Dean Baquet pretended after the Hebdo and Garland attacks that there was some consistent policy about not offending religious people. Then it began once again featuring materials that offend Catholics.
After a lot of squirming, the New York Times offered these criteria
A. It's impossible not to offend anyone, so we won't offend Muslims, but we will offend Catholics
"There's no simple, unwavering formula we can apply in situations like this. We really don't want to gratuitously offend anyone's deeply held beliefs. That said, it's probably impossible to avoid ever offending anyone," the Times' associate managing editor for standards Phil Corbett told the Examiner Monday, defending the newspaper's decision to publish Johnson's handiwork.
"We have to make these judgments all the time. Reasonable people might disagree about any one of them," he said.
Actually there's a really simple unwavering formula. Don't run materials mocking religious figures. Dean Baquet pretended to lay it out after Garland. Turns out he was lying.
It's reasonably possible not to run artwork mocking any of the major religions. The New York Times however finds it impossible to avoid running a picture of the Pope made out of condoms. Was it really impossible not to depict a photo from the hot art beat of Milwaukee? I think it was very much possible.
B. The people promoting it like it, so it's clearly not offensive
The Times' Corbett told the Examiner, "I don't think these situations the Milwaukee artwork and the various Muhammad caricatures are really equivalent. For one thing, many people might disagree, but museum officials clearly consider this Johnson piece to be a significant artwork."
The Mohammed cartoonists considered their work significant. I know Bosch Fawstin does. So again the criteria is meaningless. Furthermore the New York Times is supposed to report on events and use its own judgment. Outsourcing the blame to museum officials is pathetic. If museum officials put up Mohammed made out of condoms, we all know the old gray lady wouldn't touch it.
C. Catholics aren't trying to kills us
"Hundreds of thousands of people protested worldwide, for instance, after the Danish cartoons were published some years ago. While some people might genuinely dislike this Milwaukee work, there doesn't seem to be any comparable level of outrage."
So now the New York Times will determine what pictures it publishes based on the level of violent outrage? And if the violent outrage manifests, it will complain about extremism.
And yet the New York Times is now making violent outrage into its censorship metric.
Hint, hint. Nudge, nudge. Say no more, say no more.
When I was a kid they used to say “What’s black and white and red all over?”
The NY SLIMES. Now you can also say Borat Soetoro.
No gay marriages at mosques? No gay wedding cakes at Muslim bakers? Crickets.....
The correct statement should be: “We are COWARDS WITH NO JOURNALIST ETHICS and until Christians kill us we will continue to offend them”.
So the Times is basically daring Catholics to attack them.

The NYT neither respects us nor fears us.
Come to think of it, neither do our elected representatives.
If and when we command their respect and inspire their fear - not through our words but through our actions -, it will be a different story.
Organize. Plan. Prepare. Execute.
By siding with Satan, you (NYT staff) have condemned your own immortal soul(s).
this is it in a nutshell...until Christians start blowing stuff up, beheading people, etc in the name of Christ it will be okay to continue to insult Christians...it’ll probably still be okay after that but at least they’ll know whats coming ;)
And society is inexorably relegating them to the irrelevant dung heap where they belong.
The left...can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em...YET.
Destroying the self appointed “elite” is the only way to save what we remember as America.
And with the persecution, the Catholic Church will grow.
Something is definitely killing the NYT financially.
What these idiots are doing is waking a ‘sleeping giant’.
Years ago a handful of people calling themselves the KKK ran rampant while most people just ignored them or even silently cheered them on.
In some ethnic neighborhoods the ‘criminal element’ cajoled and bribed the local citizens into ‘protecting’ them and between strong armed tactics etal the Police couldn’t solve most neighborhood crime.
FINALLY the decent White Folks more or less banded together and struck a blow at the Klan - Oh you so called historians don’t forget the KKK had little use for Catholics, Jews and most anyone that they arbitrarily took a disliking to.
Today, the Klan has problems holding a decent meeting in a phone booth.
Keep it up and watch them rise from the ashes.......
Until the Muslim population as a whole speaks out against their ‘dastardly few’ they ALL will fall under the same brush.
Whenever there is an ‘incident’ CAIR etal come out of the woodwork condemning ALL Americans or Whites while not addressing the problem one of THEIRS caused.
The IRA has been on the ‘hit list’ for years and probably have killed - in their existence - fewer people than the various street thugs running rampant on City Streets - mostly killing their own......
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not like we didn’t already know what it would take to make them stop pushing Christians around. A word to the wise for the Left in general ... remember those Crusades, witch trials, Thirty Years War, and the Inquisition you like to talk about? Well, consider that we’re human and we do have our limits. It’s really best you stop pushing now.
Soon, God is sending His Son back in the Air around Earth to snatch away His Bride, those who believe Jesus is the Christ, the Savior, the Lord form Heaven. The ones left behind will bow down tot he mooselimes and beg to not have their heads removed. That is the legacy the media is building for themselves. They are lost and like it that way. Let them fend for themselves among the filth they have cultivated. When He takes us to where He has been preparing, we won’t even have to witness the ends of these servants to the demonic.
