P.S. The civil war was about States Rights until Lincoln used slavery as PR tool to help his agenda mid-war.

The War Against the States was about states rights from start to finish.

It was the South that first tried to use slavery as a PR tool. They accused Lincoln of trying to attack slavery because they knew abolition was unpopular in the North and they thought it would undermine Lincoln's war effort, which it did.

Agreed. I follow the Dukes of Hazzard fan page on Facebook and there are many, many people who are very angry with Warner Brothers, Walmart, Amazon, and the Democrats over this whole thing, particularly concerning the General Lee’s Confederate flag controversy.

It’s so classic of what the left does.

And yet it works nearly every time.

My disgust knows no bounds.

The left is stupid, but they seem to be winning.

Exactly. Once it is no longer cheap to borrow and spend money and be in debt, the whole thing is going to come crashing down and die like the way the Soviet Union and East bloc did.

The left has put in to motion an unfortunate chain of events for themselves.

You know, I think I’ve come around to the liberals’ way of thinking on this. So can we now apply their logic to finally ban Islam in this country?

The Republicans were never identified in any way, shape or manner with the battle standard of Northern Virginia.

Southern culture, on the other hand, is greatly invested with the reverence and historical meaning of the symbolism of what the flag stood for (states’ rights, and the determination of what was in the best interests of a particular state, in contrast to what may have been a purely Federal interest).

The slavery issue was, rightly or wrongly, considered to be a determination of the individual state, and for many years, the Democrats DEFENDED that interpretation. It was the Republican party that came along and kicked that hornets’ nest, and we saw the effects with the Civil War (or War of Northern Aggression) and its aftermath which lasted fully a hundred years.

But states’ rights are still not a decided issue. The right of a state to secede from the Union has never been determined in a court of law. It was suppressed by force of arms, but there was never a ruling from any court that had jurisdiction to decide the matter.

That’s the difference between us and them. They will stop at nothing to win they are completely one pointed on the subject of power. The people who run our party are only interested in getting tax loopholes. Lenin said the capitalist will sell the rope to his own hanging. This may explain why the establishments of both parties trash the tea party by saying they are, “working together to get things done.” Sounds like a common ground to me.

The left acts like we’re stupid or addle-brained, like we don’t know our own history/ experience or have forgotten it since the last time they pulled this stuff. WTH?
It’s insulting- like peeing down our backs & saying it’s raining. I want to slap them.
