Democrats Are Using the Confederate Flag (Which They Gave Us) to Destroy the GOP Southern Stronghold

RUSH: You know, this was quite humorous. Expected, predictable, quite humorous. Earlier in the week when the mass movement was on to remove the Confederate flag from the state grounds in South Carolina (and everybody got on that bandwagon said, "Oh, yeah! Oh, yeah! We have to!"), I warned that what's coming next is the American flag, because there's an all-out assault on culture, and pointing out specifically -- and I think this is very important. The Confederate flag is not what this is about in South Carolina. It's so classic of what the left does. They take an event -- a horrible, sad event, this kid killing nine people in a church -- and they turn that into something entirely different; they turn it into something that it is not about.

Confederate flag? The Confederate flag had nothing to do with this. Southern culture had nothing to do with this. The Republican Party had nothing to do with this. And yet that's what the left made it all about. The Confederate flag. And now look. Walmart gets rid of everything and Amazon gets rid of everything having to do with the Confederate flag. Now, Apple has removed every app, every game that has anything to do with the Confederate flag from the App Store. And this event in South Carolina was nothing about any of this. It wasn't about the Republican Party. The Democrat Party flew the flag.

It was a Democrat governor that raised the flag. The Confederacy was all Democrats. The segregationists in the old South were all Democrats. The slave owners were all Democrats. So you have this sad, horrific event of a deranged lunatic going into a church and killing nine people, and all of a sudden it becomes about slavery, the Confederate flag, and the Republican Party. And everybody, from Fox & Friends to you name it, gets on board and joins the race to remove the Confederate flag or condemn it or what have you. And somebody like me comes along and puts the brakes and says, "Wait, wait, wait, wait.

"This is not what this is about. You not see what's happening here." This is an all-out assault on two things. A, American culture, traditional, institutional American culture. The second thing it's an attack on is the last Republican electoral geographic stronghold, the South -- which, by the way, happens to be doing quite well economically and doing quite well politically. But because the Republican Party and the conservative movement represent the greatest threat to Barack Obama and the Democrats...

It isn't ISIS, it isn't the Iranians, it isn't Al-Qaeda. The greatest threat they face is us. And the reason is, we are the ones who could take their power away from them. ISIS isn't here running against them in elections. Neither is Al-Qaeda. Neither are the Iranians. But we are. So we have to be destroyed, we have to be discredited, we have to be eliminated as a legitimate opposition. And that's what's happening in South Carolina. It's an all-out assault on conservatism, the Republican Party, Southern culture, and the South as a whole. And here comes the bandwagon.

Everybody's going along with it, and I say, "Wait, wait, wait, wait. The next thing that's gonna happen is somebody's gonna say the American flag has flown over far more bigotry and racism and homophobia than the Confederate flag," and somebody's gonna make a move to replace it. They said, "He doesn't know what he's talking about. He's marginalized! Rush Limbaugh, he's an extremist. He's been marginalizing all of this stuff." Well, here comes Calypso Louie, in less than 24 hours, making my point.

60 year old newsflash for the Left.

The Segregationists were Dixiecrats which means Democrats!

The racists like Algore’s dad and others with a big Dumb D after their names were the same racists that wanted slavery.

Now the same party of racism wants to enslave us through the use of Obamacare.

P.S. The civil war was about States Rights until Lincoln used slavery as PR tool to help his agenda mid-war.

Yes. It’s about destroying the symbols they associate with the South. The South is generally conservative and religions.

Actually, I was thinking this may be the Democrats’ own “Southern Strategy”. By getting Republican Governors to agree to tear down the flag (that Democrats put up), they will disaffect enough Southerners against the GOP to get them to stay home in 2016, giving Hillary a clear path to the White House.

This will blow up in the Dems face as they try and shove their demands down America’s throat.

If anything, the removal of the battle flag might unite southerners in a determination to reclaim their heritage.

And I'm thinking that this is the southern governors taking one for the team by taking this at-the-very-least distracting issue off the table before the presidential candidates start getting questioned about it. The core southern electoral votes are plenty safe for Republicans even if people who care about the flag issue stay home.

Highly probable. How I wish the CBF would appear in front of every house & on every vehicle from one end of Dixie to the other.

I am wondering if satirizing/ ridiculing this might be the best way to go.

The only way I will stay home or rather skip the presidential section in the general election in November is if Donald Trump is the nominee. Otherwise you can be sure I will vote and you can be sure it will not be for Hillary or and of the other rat candidates

What’s the base of big government? Wall Street and particular, printed FED debt and unbacked money

Conservatives should attack that. When you can have $18 Trillion in debt and interest rates at <1%, the progressive nanny fascist state will grow as big as it wants.

...backlash from Southerners is going to be epic.

You bring up a point that had occurred to me in the midst of the fuss yesterday: either Democrat strategists have written off the South completely or this was a major, major screw-up. The problem with these things is that once started they have a momentum of their own, and if we end up with Social Justice Warrior hit squads going after street signs in the small town South you can pretty much write off the next election. Or elections. And that's assuming they make it out alive.

Some personal thoughts: my grandfather on my mother’s side had a uncle who was badly wounded at Brandy Station fighting in the 12th Virginia cavalry. His wife, my grandmother, had uncle who was killed at Chickamauga fighting in the First Ohio Infantry. We Americans must learn to live together with that cruel and terrible history as did my grandparents; but it should not be forgotten. The so-called Civil War was only indirectly fought over slavery. Like almost all wars, it was fought over power; power between a southern slave-owning aristocracy that was nationally being replaced politically by the nouveau riche industrialists of the North. Unfortunately, "The Stainless Banner" of those brave boys and men who fought and died for their southern states was appropriated and besmirched by the anti-black racists of the Jim Crow era. As a Southerner, it has a place in my heart, but I will now fly it.

[The Confederate flag had nothing to do with this.]

Using facts on silly liberals doesn’t work.

What would have worked is if one of the churchgoers had been CCW. They might have limited the damage done by that idiot.
