There was some relief when Katrina Percy heard police had arrested three suspects in the killing of her 15-year-old son last week. Then she heard their ages: 14, 15 and 16.
Her son, Kimon Wheeler, had been hanging out with two cousins and five others outside a convenience store in the 4100 block of West Cullerton Street just before 11 p.m Wednesday when he was killed.
On the day he was killed, Percy said she texted him to ask if he wanted to be picked up. He didn't respond.
"He was an all-around good 15-year-old boy," Percy said.
Kimon had attended Proviso East High School in Maywood and lived there with his grandmother.
All three suspects have been charged as adults with murder and attempted armed robbery.

“He was a good boy.” Yeah, maybe. But that is what almost all mothers of gang-bangers say about their kids.
He looks as sweet and innocent as any other snarling little angel.

What a shame that a kid who was born with so much potential died as no great loss.

Why would they kill him? Shouldn’t they have a lot in common and be friends?
maybe some kids from Oklahoma cow country could be described as “boys” but these three probably have done it all and seen it all...they are not “boys” IMO....having we been lectured that black boys develop sooner.???
They always seem to live with their grandmother...these all-around good kids.

No mother of father in the picture, he is probably feral at this point with only a grandmother to discipline him, who apparently failed at raising her own child.
