The City of Bixby changed insurance deductibles for their employees.

One of the changes means that a family now has a $7,000 deductible instead of a $500 one. There is a gap plan available on limited basis.

Employees said that no one asked them about the change or if they would prefer to pay higher premiums instead.

Be certain to point out that this horrendous rise is caused by Obama and Pelosi and the Democrats who are bragging that 10 million people are being subsidized by your insurance premiums. Doesn’t that give you a warm, fuzzy feeing?

From 500 to 7000. To say that’s sticker shock is an understatement. And the premiums will probably go up every year as well.

Highway robbery is what it is.

Down the road we will have a scandal because of the profits that ObamaCare is producing for the insurance companies... again, no one in the press has the stones (or brains) to investigate and tell the public the truth. Why is this so... because our Senators and Congressmen and their staffs are being exempted from this mess and expense... tell me it ain’t so.

We have not changed our employees' health insurance coverage and not increased their required contributions. It is still entirely free for individuals and still only $129 per month for families.
Upping the deductible from $500 to $7K isn't changing coverage? Nevertheless, you can't argue the monthly premiums are too high.

I was arguing with a very liberal/democrat deputy prosecutor last week, and among other things the issue of 0bamacare came up. When I mentioned skyrocketing premiums (which I have to pay) she said “well our premiums haven’t gone up.” My response was (delivered scathingly):

“Oh yes they have; tremendously. You don’t see them because the County pays them. But don’t you wonder why the County Council eliminated the prosecutor’s training budget? Or why they haven’t restored that Deputy slot they took away in 2010? Or why they extended your laptop upgrade cycle from 3 years to 5? Or why there is a shortage of dispatchers at the communications center? It’s because of the employee health care costs. Yes, you do see it. The county bean counters have to make those decisions because of 0bamacare.”

I would note that we live in a very affluent suburban county, which incidentally is predominantly Republican.

"One of the changes means that a family now has a $7,000 deductible instead of a $500 one."

What is not discussed is this policy an HSA where they can contribute 6k and change for a family of 4 if my memory is correct for your low end healthcare and the Insurance is for catastrophic events.

Either way, this is by design with Obama, we all have a "qualified plan" that covers checkups, and birth-control for free ( it is not free it is cost shifting ) but it is a Potemkin Village, it is a facade that will collapse us in Nationalized Single Payer Suckage....

The “county” don’t pay squat. The county’s TAXPAYERS pay.

True, but before you get too snarky, you might appreciate a county that actually makes some cuts instead of just knee-jerk raising taxes.

The country will be a much better place when government employees are not shielded from the economic hardship that government programs like Obamacare impose on private sector employees.
