Someone suggested this is perfectly legitimate and how the guards get their McWhoppers and cigarettes.

Already debunked on Greta. It is food being sent up to a guard tower.

Actually, it’s lunch for the tower guard.

No. It’s probably the guard’s johnny (lunch) since he can’t leave the tower. It’s been done forever. Nothing exciting or illegal.

[and a cell phone to call a couple of hookers]

Oooookay.

Are they going to hoist them up by rope as well?

I worked in a prison for a number of years and if someone wanted to smuggle something in, they wouldn’t have to go to so much trouble as this person would have had to go to (had it been a smuggling).

First thing I said when I saw this was that it was some kind of delivery, not, anything nefarious.

At least here in GA, the prison food WAS very good, though a little under spiced. The Bread produces were quite professionally made.

The only entrance to a guard tower is through an entry door on the outside of the prison. To get into the prison, they have to walk outside and through the main gate. If they want to pass something to the guard in the tower, they have to use a rope or go through the entry door. There was a scandal at the Auburn, NY prison where someone spotted the door keys hanging on a hook near one of the entrances.

It’s a shame the corrupt governor didn’t put on his news conference at this spot, when all the government “officials” were slapping each other on the back, telling all how thorough and professional they were searching for their escaped murdering lunatics.

I’m trying to imagine the governor babbling on and seeing this guy behind him tying a bag of stuff on rope as it’s being hauled up.

A 10 on the honking hoot scale.

No matter how you look at it, having a package delivered to a tower guard from the outside like that is just so wrong.

Think about it. You have a maximum security prison in which two inmates, convicted murderers, just escaped. You have a prison employee under arrest for allegedly smuggling tools to these inmates and helping them plan their escape.

And you STILL allow a guards "lunch" to be pulled up the side of a prison wall with a rope from the outside?

This is not some medieval castle from the Dark Ages. It's 2015. Is this really the most efficient way to deliver lunch to a guard? They don't have a process to check this lunch through the front door? Or better yet, can't they have the guards either bring their own lunch through the front door before their shift or get it from the prison cafeteria?

Instead, they allow outside vendors to just attach a package to a rope and have it pulled up the side by a guard? Really?

Somebody is asleep at the switch here.

Stay away form the bag when it comes back down.

When I lived in Missouri, someone broke out of the work release center, stole a six-pack of beer at a convenience store nearby and tried to sneak back in to share it with his friends. He went straight to jail.

It’s time to talk about expanding the death penalty... Housing violent criminals is a waste of time, money, and hope.
