Full-blown free trade is about total decentralization in trade policy. In a country that enjoys free trade that is, a country that has implemented unilateral free trade it is fully up to the individual consumer and entrepreneur as to whether or not he wishes to do business with foreign suppliers. Under such a system, a baker who must buy delivery trucks and flour for his business can choose whether or not he will obtain his supplies from foreign or domestic suppliers. In most cases, he will choose the most economical option, and the marketplace will reflect this reality.
Trade agreements like the TPP and NAFTA, on the other hand, leave these decisions not up to individual citizens, but to government regulators and negotiators who make decisions in the interest of the state and its favored special interests.
No, but it is a part of TPA. That is why it needs to pass, so we can be assured of that 60 days time frame to examine any trade agreements before Congress votes.
Don't try to do any real world analysis or hope that John Roberts will step in to save your butt - he won't.
It doesn’t matter. It’s too big not to pass. If it comes to a vote, it’s going to get passed- guaranteed. And my life isn’t going to be improved a bit because of it- also guaranteed. Far more likely that my life will be made more difficult. I wasn’t in favor of NAFTA either. I said it would be a disaster and it was. This will be no better. Given that Obama is crafting the deal, it will more than likely be worse.
You’re funny.
I don’t have a script. I just di my research. A lot of this hysteria could have been avoided if more people had gotten informed before they got riled up over a bill that provides them with the right to review trade agreements before they are voted on.
Of course, that would not have stopped the agenda driven Cruz bashers who don’t care about the truth anyway.
The sky isn’t falling yet. There are enough Dems to stop its passage and there will be a lot of Republicans who will not support TPP.
Yes, he can. Sorry we don’t agree on this issue, but apparently you recognize that Cruz is a great candidate, and on that we Agree! :)
