Because they are our side and we need someone to get our backs.
Hope the pilot has a full recovery. Spinal injuries are nasty.
Unlike the Thunderbird who punched out of his aircraft at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho back in the 90’s.
Turned out the altimeter was not adjusted for the actual height above sea level. After doing a loop, the pilot realized in a split second that the plane was going to hit the runway at the bottom of the loop.
Pilot was okay after landing, but the plane was a bunch of scrap metal strewn over the runway.
‘Scuse me....I was posting from memory.
The crash happened in 2003. The maneuver was a “Split S”, and the error was caused by mis-calculating the height above sea level.
The pilot, as of 2004, was serving at the Pentagon...and not flying.
Because Russia is basically right next door. And they can’t count on Obamaland to come save them.
The very same.
To prevent a repeat of the decades long Soviet Occupation?
Hungry fighting off the Soviets.. ugh.. Russians?..
They might feed them some Goulash.. fighting aint happening..
A coupla Gripens will not do it..
And 12 fully armed soldiers.. and a stolen Humvee... nada..
Whats to stop them(russians)... OBAMA?...
Because they are our side and we need someone to get our backs.
Our side?... You mean the Obama White House..?..
Suggest you put down the Bong..
Because Russia is basically right next door. And they cant count on Obamaland to come save them.
SOoo they will threaten the Russians with what?...
Even now the russians control their UNIONS...
as they do in all countrys.. that are worth intimidating..
as they have since Roosevelt in the US.. maybe before that..
Oh!.. and still do..
Then the damnedest thing, he hit the afterburners, jockeyed them to stay straight on the runway, and that damn F-4 clawed itself back into the air. How much power does an airplane need to get airborne scraping sown the runway on it's belly?
They climbed out over the ocean and punched out. Very sad watching that noble bird roll over and dive down. Pilot and RIO were fine, but I suspect needed a change of shorts.
He injured his vertebra seriously enough to wind up in the hospital. It’s possible he may not fly in the military again.
No saying he should have ridden it in. I think he made the best decision in the situation facing him. Just that some decisions can hold degrees of lose/lose. :-[
lol
I wonder which piece is gonna fly.
It looks like he landed on his butt. That will break vertebrae T12, L1 and L2.
It could have easily read: "During ejection, the pilots perfectly functioning seat put him in hospital with a vertebral fracture."
That's why I wrote he couldn't know it at the time. After-the-fact, the plane neither broke up, nor burned. Never-the-less, I agree with his decision. He was better punching out than staying with the plane and risking being burned up, or torn apart as the plane broke up.
Unfortunately, spinal injuries mean his flight career is probably over.
They spend .8% of their GDP on the military, they don’t care.
He should get his money back, not getting seat man separation.
