"These training exercises have been going on for decades. I participated in many of them as a Marine. Now as a contractor I support 10 of these a year. This tin foil crap is a stain on the conservative movement. The loons just give ammo to the libs."

If these exercises have been going on for decades why is this the first time we've ever heard of it?

Can you explain this statement from one of the news reports of the events in MI?

"Police who are working with the Army on the training are being paid by the federal government, officials said. "

Have you trained with local police who are suddenly being paid by the federal governement?

If this is routine why do they need to be so secretive of the locations and the dates? Why not let the public know weeks in advance and secure the area beforehand?

Does that not make it obvious they want the public to be surprised when these events occur and to then right off the event as training?

What happens when explosions start going off and gunshots are heard and it has nothing to do with one of these training exercises but what is really happening is a terrorist attack and innocent Americans are being killed because everyone thinks its just another "training exercise".

They can prep all they want but with the current military and overseas commitments they can only hold certain areas of the country, big swaths will not be under their control unless they are willing to ask US pilots to bomb their own.

If Vietnam and Iraq have proved anything is you can’t operate without heavy casualties and extensive numbers unless you have the support of the civilian population you occupy. When the surge came in Iraq and civilians started supporting US action we won quickly.

Of course you can’t find anything emanating from the White Hovel. It was supposed to be a surprise to gauge citizens’ reaction.

Do not fear, if they try that, they’ll piss off the Canadians too. There is a reason the Canadian soldiers were the most feared in both world wars and Korea.

Once that happens, our southern brethren will receive help in spades.

The real eye-opener for me was calling the airport and asking what was considered forbidden (Keep in mind the last time I had flown I had a 3" blade folding knife in a sheath on my belt--no problems).

The lady said "It's just common sense, anything that can be used as a weapon."

I told her that common sense didn't seem to be so common any more, so I'd appreciate it if she'd spell it out.

When she said "Like nail clippers and embroidery scissors", I was really glad I had asked her to specify.

I know a couple of former SEALs, and no small number of other special forces folks, and none was able to tell me how nail clippers could be used as a lethal weapon. Even with my knowledge of anatomy from being a firefighter and EMS (and helping a college friend with dissections), I had a hard time envisioning using a nail clipper as a lethal weapon--especially if it didn't have the swing-out nail file. Embroidery scissors, while requiring precise placement and being less than an ideal device, could conceivably be used in a lethal fashion, although I'd call that one a longshot.

I will only fly if I absolutely have to, and do all in my power to eliminate such occasions (successfully, so far).

The whole thing is theater from a functional viewpoint, and the failure rate only confirms that.

Well, with nail clippers, you COULD trim way too close and maybe bleed for 5 seconds.

I just put mine in my shoes, knowing they’d be on x-ray. This was about 10-some years ago at DIA. The guard mentioned them and I just smiled. He made no big thing about it and sent me on my way.

But I haven’t flown that much in the last 20 years, especially since 9/11. I was too busy working (how I used to fly a lot) or looking for my next job.

So I cannot know what’s going on currently with airports.

You got that right about the failure rate.

My husband, Bryan, and I got back from the Texas Cowboy Memorial
Shoot yesterday, and we drove there and back to Ohio, no flying.

We had a great time and we were ungroped, unex-rayed, and we were
not photographed naked.

Not that anyone would enjoy that sight at my age (68).

Hawaii becomes Ground Zero for largest mass casualty exercise in history
(Vigilant Guard 15)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luI1B2UqW44

HAWAII | Hawaii is preparing for massive casualties through the large scale exercise, Vigilant Guard 15. Complete with crisis actors, decontamination centers, and quarantine zones. In one scenario that played out, soldiers practiced treating casualties from a collapsed building as a fuel spill contaminated the area.

Using the Campbell Industrial Park as their staging ground the Hawaiian National Guard set up triage and decontaminated victims.

Vigilant Guard 15 utilized over 2,200 participants from multiple states reacting to a natural disaster and is the largest mass casualty exercise to date.

More than 700 participants traveled from Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon and Guam.

Military personnel and first responders, using Chinook and Blackhawk Helicopters, also practiced a variety of scenarios including disease outbreak and cyberattack.

Did you see this on the news. I doubt it.

Bypass the media and tell a friend by sharing this report on your social networks.

What are your concerns about this exercise? Let us know in the comments section below.

"Hawaii becomes Ground Zero for largest mass casualty exercise in history"

This was training for mass casualty, NOT COMBAT TRAINING.

What happened in flint was a combat exercise. Why would US military troops practice combat scenarios with local police?

Why would the local police also be paid by the federal government?

Lastly and perhaps most importantly. I'm sure in the example of Vigilant Guard 15 in Hawaii, the area was secured and if questions were asked there would not have been a stonewall response.

What happened in Flint and these new and never heard of so called "routine" combat training with local police tactical teams are clearly being done in a very secretive manner.

My simple questions in response to an earlier post of someone who claimed to have participated in these routine exercises have gone unanswered.

I’ve been noticing a lot of military/civilian exercises going on involving urban warfare and mass casualty events. I wonder what the Feds are expecting?

There are plenty of reservations all over the country that are set aside for military training.

Which taxpayers have spent a pretty penny on.
