Ditto - spent a couple of months there in 1979 to help conduct a bake-off between the Cobra and the A10 to see which was the more effective tank killer. Interesting place, but really isolated (at least it was back then)...

As an old Army Aviator, I'd pull for the AH-1G Cobra, but think the A-10 probably kicked butt. No?

Was there in ‘72 for my last two week grand finale. All I did was fight brush fires, and drink beer for two weeks with about eight other guys they grabbed before our six year commitment was up.

I was drafted in ‘66. I was so ticked off, ‘cause I reported May 6th of 1966, was released from active duty Feb. 5, ‘68, and they tagged me for the two week “training” July of ‘72. I remember it was hotter’n you know where the entire two weeks, ........a lot of beer.
