Legislation to fund the Justice Department is chock full of GOP-backed language designed to keep the Obama administration from moving ahead with gun control regulations.
The Commerce-Justice-Science appropriations bill, which cruised through the House this week, contains several provisions directed squarely at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) rule-making authority.
Under the measure, the ATF would be prohibited from banning certain forms of armor-piercing ammunition or blocking the importation of military-style shotguns. Another provision would block federal agents from creating what critics say is a gun registry.

Power of the purse. Well they have demonstrated how that works. The Republicans in Congress have designated the President as the one controlling the Purse. If he says pay for it they will pay for it.
They’ll back down at the first veto threat.

DO they have the stones to do it though? Doubt it. They have capitulated on nearly everything to assist the “won”. Of, but they sure talk a good game firing up the base though don’t they?
They ought to prohibit any government agency (especially the EPA) from banning lead bullets, too.
I am sure VJ has already emailed mitch some copies of compromising photos of him and a choir boy for his past.

Bear in mind that corrupt RINOs and Democrats essentially defeated the Founding States’ purpose for giving the power of the purse (1.7.1) uniquely to the HoR, imo, when Congress passed the unconstitutional Stimulus Program and Obamacare bills. Corrupt Congress essentially gave lawless Obama unaccountable financial independence from Congress by passing these bills.

I’ll be impressed when they allow registration of more automatic weapons, import guns from Russia and China again, and get those thousands of brand-new lend-lease Thompsons we sent Stalin back here and sell them through the CMP.
They won’t do it.
“Wielding” and “pulling the trigger” are two separate actions.
Having the power and the will to do so are to VERY different things. If the current Republican congress has proved anything, it’s leadership and too many of its members are closet Obama supporters.
I agree, really they will use the power of the purse? If I am obama I would just smirk at them and do what I want. Republicans are like the parents who continually threaten “I am going to spank you if you do that again...” and yet never do.
