Tom Coburn On 2016: Cruz And Walker Not Ready For Primetime, America Wont Elect Another Bush
BuzzFeed ^ | 06/05/2015 | Andrew Kaczynski

Tom Coburn, the former Republican senator from Oklahoma says that Rand Paul scares him to death, Ted Cruz and Scott Walker are not ready for primetime, Rick Perry is not capable enough, and America will not elect another Bush to be president. Of all the candidates, he said Marco Rubio is his favorite.

Former Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn spoke candidly about the current crop of Republicans running for president on Sirius XM radio Thursday, sharing some critical thoughts about Senators Rand Paul and Ted Cruz and Governors Scott Walker and Rick Perry, while heaping praise on Marco Rubio, Carly Fiorina, and Mike Huckabee.

Of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Coburn said “I don’t think that America will elect another Bush president.” Coburn said Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul “scares me to death” on foreign policy. He added Paul didn’t “speak truthfully” about the NSA and he “would not vote for him for president.”

Of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Coburn called him “of all that are out there right now probably my favorite.” Coburn said Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is “not ready for primetime in my opinion.” He said Walker didn’t win the recall election in 2012 but “Republicans around the country did it for him.”

Coburn said he had “a personal bone to pick with him on integrity that I witnessed” with retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson. The former senator said Carson was asked not to attack President Obama in his National Prayer Breakfast speech but said “his speech was nothing but an attack on the president.”

He added former New York Gov. George Pataki was “probably smart enough” to be president but didn’t have the conservative fiscal credentials.

We will not be allowed to elect anyone who would stop the invasion/cheap labor importation/colonization of our country within the GOP.

We must either take control of the GOP or there must be a new party formed out of the GOP.

"Prime Time"???

Coburn is Slime Time attacking the primary candidates in his own party the way he did. From now on, every time I type his name it's going to be as Tom Coburn-e.

He certainly helped enrich my brain's data base when I read his choices and his snide attacks on others. Now I know to tune him out for the duration....and to stay away from his e-favorites even if his final endorsement is a holy archangel come down to earth.

It should be clear to any conservative that Cruz is the logical choice. I can’t imagine casting my vote for anyone else.

+1. Hopefully enough of us coalesce around Cruz early enough to avoid a repeat of that 2012 disaster. All those GOP-e conspiracy theorists fail to realize that Mittens picked up state after state with only 30-35% of the vote. Had we not been splitting our votes among five, then four, then three, then two candidates, we could have boxed him out.

Here’s hoping we all learned that lesson!

Some people seem intent on voting for candidates who tell them what they want to hear. I don’t agree with Cruz on all things but I do believe him.

The establishment would sooner burn it to the ground than give up control to conservatives.

Coburn valued his friendship with Obama above the welfare and security of the republic, and he says Carson has an integrity problem?

Flashback to the last time Coburn could have been relevant, but he lacked either the wisdom or the courage, but probably both.

Mail in ballots from across the US, who knew? Go home Tom you have DC insider disease.

Sad that Coburn went native during his tenure in the Senate.

Cruz or we all lose.

Now we know that Coburn is also owned by The Cheap Labor Express.

He would have endorsed Jeb then.

He's a senile old coot is what he is. I mean, he likes Huckabee. He's probably sexually attracted to Fiorina. Hard to believe he's only 67, he sounds 87.

Hey Tommy, you're missing the "Matlock" marathon, they're showing it down at the Old Country Buffet.

I also believe that Cruz is the only one who would immediately ask the attorney general to pick up the investigations of Fast and Furious, the IRS targeting, and Benghazi.

I predict none of these things will happen no matter who is elected as President.
