There is a huge pool of warm water sitting off the northern west coast of North America. That warm water is warming Alaska along with rest of the Pacific North West. It is a local/regional warming event just like the cooling of the Atlantic East Coast is a local/regional cooling event. However one would be wise to remember that glaciation (continental ice sheets a mile high) begin in the north east of the North American continent. Which just happens to be under going a strong cooling event. Which just happens to be coinciding with the biggest Solar minimum of the last few hundred years. Oh an interglacials (warm periods) typically last about 12k years and our nice warm interglacial is 12k years old.

Scientists use to think it took hundred of years to flip from warm interglacial to cold "ice age" we now know that the flip can happen very quickly in just a few years to a couple of decades. Maybe even faster when one considers all the perfectly preserved, perfectly healthy (except for being dead) mammoths frozen solid in Siberian tundra.

I thumb a ride from the airport with Tara Kregar, a high school maths and science teacher in Dillingham who taught in Togiak last year. I ask if her students, in both places, are aware of climate change. She nods solemnly, then says, "I have students who ask if the world is coming to an end".

This is because the teacher is "leading the witness". The kids, who because of their age have no sense of history, are easily manipulated by apocalyptic progressives.

Somehow I fail to see how if America's largest state by far becomes a little bit more livable how this would be a catastrophe.
