If a Republican candidate would embrace the “two Americas” rhetoric, he or she could tap into the tremendous resentment we little people have towards the ruling liberal elite.

And talk of a Civil War? Just stop it. The death toll would be in the millions. A hot civil war is not going to end well for anybody. They never do.

I'm not seeing the downside.

I think we are kind of doing it in Oregon. Bloomberg has flooded the state senators and congressmen bank accounts with lots and lots of money to ban guns from our state. The best they could do is pass a partisan law that requires background checks on every transfer of guns.

The commissioners and sheriffs of many, most counties have told the legislators to go pound sand. In my county Sheriff Jon Hanlen, testified at the congressional hearing and when it passed anyway, he told them he will NOT enforce their 2nd amendment violation of his counties citizens rights!

In real estate we have a saying dealing with all the stupid regulations in the housing industry, "better to ask forgiveness than permission."

You are totally correct.

The vast majority of rules and regulations are in fact simply crimes committed by government. As the wise man whose name escapes me once said, the purpose of government is to protect the citizenry from the criminal but inevitably the government USURPS THE FUNCTION OF THE CRIMINAL and becomes a greater danger to the citizens than the criminal could ever be. Something like that anyway, I can’t find the original quote. It is really quite simple, the absurdly named Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is simply one of the worst of a huge number of instances of crime committed by the same government which claims to protect us from crime. There was a time when people were taught something about the rule of law in school so they understood these things but a huge percentage of Americans now simply do not understand that the biggest example of organized crime in existence now is government. There is a good reason why so many old movies, especially westerns concerned outlaws running government. Many of the groups that are referred to as criminal gangs are operating with the sanction of the federal government. Maybe I should change my tagline to Crime is crime, even when the government is committing the crime.

No, I don't suppose you do.

Law and order are a far cry from today’s ‘rule BY Law’. Not only do we no longer have equal protection, we have Law w/out Representation (regulations/etc.)

With the 9th and 10th, the law books of the Fed should (maybe) fill a 1/2 size book shelf from Staples/etc...Not the ‘one bill per bookshelf’ BS our ‘leaders’ don’t even read before voting upon.

And now these solons are going to decide for the rest of us what marriage is. Who the f**k gave them that authority?

We did. We did it by applying for government permission in the form of a license to get married.

I’m curious as to how a “Madison Fund” or some such would work in reality. The RICO statutes would probably prevent such an organization from existing. Caesar is not going to sanction an organization that exists for the express purpose of facilitating unlawful resistance to his wise and benevolent edicts.

The larger point about civil disobedience is interesting. Jefferson was wrong: government derives its powers from OBEDIENCE, not consent. Caesar doesn’t give even a tenth of a damn if you consent, so long as you obey.

Exactly. Its caesar’s license issued under caesar’s rules. And caesar will do as he wishes. The irony is that there is no legal requirement to buy caesar’s license at all.
