This is rude behavior on the part of people, no sure we should arrest men for this.

Then again, this comes back to issues of, were these boys ever taught any sort of manners, how to behave in public, how to be considerate of other people, etc. These lessons seem lost on many, especially young people, nowadays.

" arrested two Latino men "

All they have to do is say this is part of their latino culture and then sue the city for millions. Luis Guiterrez will be right there to give a presser and Comrade Del Blasio will put the checkbook on the table..

Worse than the Gestapo. Now we’re arresting people for inconsiderate behavior?

Welcome to the police state.

This is good to know if I ever visit NY. It is arguably a valid issue.

”… two Latino [emphasis added] men ..."

Interesting mention of race. We’d probably never hear mention of some other races.

Stop and frisk is no longer legal so this is the new way to do it. If there is any gap between your knees it is man spreading.

PROP president Robert Gangi told Newsweek that the organization’s staff and volunteers had observed arraignments for misdemeanors in four of the city’s five boroughs since June 2014 over the course of about 35 sessions lasting a few hours. The observers found, according to the report, that “out of the 850 total cases seen, 797, or about 94 percent, of the defendants were people of color. 756 people, or 89 percent, of the persons arrested or ticketed were able to walk out of the courtroom.”

They don't report the truly significant numbers here -- the number of persons of color and of uncolor who were observed and the proportion of each who were observed breaking the law.

Do the transit police just arrest people they see sitting like this? I’m wondering, if they tell these guys to sit up straight, and they comply, doesn’t that solve the problem? Of course if the guys are belligerent, then all bets are off.

“You’re under arrest!”
“For what, officer?”
“’Man-spreading...it’s right here in Penal Code 123-43b’”

Well...most men should be arrested for showing any bulge. It’s disgusting and promotes certain “sexual” ideas. It would be better for the public and the “childrens” if these perverts where in jail./s

I’m a guy and “man spreaders” are downright creepy -— it’s as if I’m sitting next to some pervert who’s trying to feel me up with his knees. If I ever live in a “subway city” I’m gonna sew thumbtacks into my clothes to keep away the prrvert man spreader.

This is terrible. I would not want to be a cop for anything. Common sense tells you not to take up more than one seat in a crowded public conveyance. That is rude; ungentlemanly.

Wait until they start after mothers taking, up space with bags strollers and such.

This is why I despise cities. It’s always something and overcrowding with the border wide open is only going to get worse. Crime, creepiness, disease, stench, filth...

As a woman, I see nothing wrong with “manspreading”. No real man would sit like a woman with his legs crossed.

It happens on planes too. Pretty gross on a trans continental flight. Flight attendants seem to be blind to this type of activity.

I’m glad there was an explanation ...

Personally I hate having to sit by a guy who does this ..

I stand up if there’s one doing this ...

I feel put upon...

Would you want your wife or daughter to have some guy’s leg pressed up against hers when there is no need ???

you don’t think its deliberate ???

Wanna bet ???
