I remember the first time I noticed the phrase gun violence being used in the media. What about all the other forms of violence, I wondered; such as, violence committed with knives, baseball bats, table lamps, golf clubs and garden tools? When used as weapons, these items can be no less fatal or injurious than firearms. People were being murdered by strangulation, drowning, and blows from what the F.B.I. refers to as hands and feet. The FBI was reporting that about 60% of the homicides in America were a result of the misuse of firearms and the remaining 40% were from other means. Whether the phrase gun violence was originally intended to help sensationalize the news or if it was indeed part of an effort to demonize firearms, the results are that there have been unintended consequences.

Truthfully, violence itself is neither good or evil. It can be used for both. “Gun violence” is the same as is just, “guns”.

YOu wonder why they aren’t getting ahead? Because they can only do the most limited, skill-less jobs that are available because they pissed away their opportunity to better themselves.
Everyone else knows education is what gets you a better life, in most cases. These people think they just deserve it because everyone else does better, it must be racism. Blacks from Africa do better than American blacks, here. It isn’t racism.
Until they recognize the real problem they’ll never get better.
I remember reading about a woman who killed her husband with a frozen salmon, but the story sounded fishy to me.
We must not let our enemies define the language we use. There is no such thing as “gun violence.” Guns are inanimate objects incapable of acting by themselves.
By accepting the term “gun violence” we are accepting the idea that guns are inherently “violent” and that the person holding them is a victim of some sorts, and that by removing the evil gun, violence cannot happen.
I have never had one of my guns get up and shoot anybody ...
