Boston STILL has snow piles - and they're filled with trash

Lingering snow piles from the record-setting New England winter continue to plague the Boston area, even as the weather turns summer-like.
A 75-foot-high snow mound in Boston's Seaport District has been reduced to a three-story pile of dirt and trash — including bicycles, traffic cones and even half a $5 bill — that remains encrusted in solid ice.
In Boston, 108.6 inches of snow broke a two-decade-old record this past winter.

All that may be true ... but the fact is .... after the first OT snowplowing ... that never seemed to stop .... y'just pushed whatever was white into a truck and dumped it
pretty much what ANYbody would do ... with the thought ...
We'll figure it out in the spring
Spring has sprung and if the same condition had prevailed in the whitest WASP town of flyover America ... they too would have old boots and cones .... maybe even a John Deere or two

We call them “snow farms”.
They won’t let them dump the plowed snow into the harbor, so it just gets piled up in some parking lot.
At lest all the trash in concentrated in one place...

At lest all the trash in concentrated in one place...Amazing what sort of stuff gets lost in the snow, too. The light trash will blow away leaving the jewelry and car keys, etc. behind...

The main road leading to the subdivision where I lived in Manatee county had a McDonalds at the intersection. For years as people drove down the road they threw their trash out of the car’s windows. One Saturday I took my garbage can and started collecting trash. It took an entire morning. The road stayed trash clean for the next three years until I moved.

They used to dump snow in the harbor and the Charles, that’s no longer legal because it pollutes, they take it to impound yards, where it melts, and the heavier pollutants remain. I don’t believe that Boston, for all its faults, is any dirtier than any other major American city.

....and in other news...it snowed in Athens and Ankara last week......I guess summer is slow coming to that region this year.
In unusually cold storm will continue to impact the nations surrounding the eastern Mediterranean Sea, unloading rain, snow and strong winds.
The storm is responsible for unusual snowflakes in Athens, Greece, and causing snow to whiten Istanbul, Turkey.
Snow will continue to pile up across Turkey through Wednesday with almost blizzard conditions in the nation’s northwestern corner. Along the southern fringe of the storm, windswept rain will spread from far northeastern Libya to the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
The unusual wet snow began flying in Athens Tuesday morning with additional wet snow to follow into the night. Outside of the mountains, the snow will struggle to accumulate due to marginal temperatures.
