That sure is a lot of paper clips.
Obamacare is set to add more than a quarter-of-a-trillionthat's trilliondollars in extra insurance administrative costs to the U.S. health-care system, according to a new report out Wednesday.
The $273.6 billion in additional insurance overhead represents an average of of $1,375 per newly insured person, per year, from 2012 through 2022.
The overhead cost equals a whopping 22.5 percent of the total estimated $2.76 trillion in all federal government spending for the Affordable Care Act programs during that time, the authors of the report in the journal Health Affairs noted.
In contrast, the federal government's traditional Medicare program has overhead of just 2 percent, according to the report.

This is just the beginning.
This past year, my primary doctor for over 20 years closed her practice & joined a group.
Hubby’s primary is now taking cash only & then patient can bill insurance on own.
GOD I hate that man.
He looks stoned
Ohhh, but things would probably be have been SOOOOO much worse had they NOT done it!!!
What is not well articulated (accusations, but not really explained) ... that there is a REALLY WHOPPING 77.5 % of additional cost to an already costly medical payment system
I don't know the answer except ... we have to get the cost of a band aid down to the fraction of a penny it really costs from the (a guess) 3 - 10 dollar cost now which pays for employees, hospital, electricity .... THAT overhead already too high.
“Effing piece of Kenyan pigs##t.
GOD I hate that man.”
-Agreed, but he had and is still getting LOTS of help. It just sickens me too bro.
Meanwhile, Congress is deaf, dumb, and gutless.
Bump
Congress? Do we still have one of those?
That is just the overhead... jeesh
Someone in the media ask Bernie Sanders if this $270 billion bureaucracy, that he supported, should have been spent for the hungry, that he says is being ignored.
I propose we hire a study group to look into this! Maybe 100 specialists and a staff of 25 to support them, plus office rentals and phones, copy machines, parking in Washington DC and pensions.
We must find out why government bureaucracy is so expensive!
and complicit for not defunding the greatest totalitarian (force backed up by the IRS) legislation (with a pandora's box of evil) in our lifetimes.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
With all the “slush fund” of monies being handed to criminal reprobates who support this leftist insanity...the amount probably is higher. Heads...meet pikes.
Simply not possible. Everybody KNOWS that once you take the evil profit motive out of the equation, government can run things more efficiently and at far lower cost than the private sector. Maybe the study’s authors misplaced a negative sign somewhere along the line and the government is reducing OH costs by $270B. That’s far more likely. Right?
“This is just the beginning.”
Exactly. What federal agency or bureau has not metastasized in an exponential way, like a malignant tumor, once it got established?
The people we put in office should be strangling this little monster in its crib.
If the GOP Congress doesn’t get moving—any faster than it does to hold Democrats’ feet to the fire over high crimes and misdemeanors—we’re going to be faced with a `Brazil!’-type nightmare bureaucracy with deductibles so high you can never make a claim, premiums jumping every month and penalties so high taxpayers are bankrupted by the “Affordable Healthcare” act.
And we haven’t even begun to enjoy the “privacy” repercussions of the legislation.
