Follow the Money: American Entity Funded Irish Same-Sex ‘Marriage’ Campaign

Ireland’s rush to permanently redefine marriage is a startling development for a country that legalized divorce only 20 years ago. How could the nation that "saved civilization" precipitously decide to make its constitution “gender neutral,” especially in a section devoted to … the family? Key organizations opposing the radical change believe one answer can be found in the multimillion-dollar external financing program that has quietly poured money into Ireland to fund several homosexual-rights organizations since 2004, especially from U.S.-based Atlantic Philanthropies. Although not as well known as the Gates Foundation, Atlantic has a similar pedigree: Billionaire businessman Chuck Feeney is giving away the fortune he made as co-founder of DFS, airline duty-free shops. One of his targets is Ireland, perhaps because his parents were Irish-Catholic Depression-era immigrants to New Jersey, where Feeney was raised. Between 2004 and 2014, Feeney’s foundation virtually created the gay-rights movement in Ireland, with direct investment of more than $17 million and priceless indirect support, according to Breda O’Brien, a Catholic columnist at The Irish Times, research compiled on the blog Yes Funding Exposed and Atlantic Philanthropies’ own website and reports.

Surprise, surprise. Without American meddling and American money no way homosexual "marriage" would exist in Ireland today. And let's not forget Obama refusing to give one nickle's aid to any country that does not cater to the homosexual agenda.

The moral cancer of American Leftists claims more victims. Our judgment will be severe and deserved.

Us?

This was Ireland’s free vote, not ours.

You can carry this self hatred and anti-Americanism too far.

they still had to vote for it. I was brought up in an age of complete propaganda from the left as were many in their thirties and forties. and I am still conservative. there is no excuse for the way they voted. I am very shocked. if all it took was some money and advertising to change their opinions then they weren’t that strong to begin with.

We deserve nothing short of an enormous asteroid obliterating our planet all at once. It would be an instant promotion for many. For others not so.

It likely still would, Europe is either heavily agnostic/atheist or full of holiday Christians who hardly if ever actually attend Church, it gives meaning to what Jesus said with the parable of 10 virgins in the sense that few “Christians” would really be on the side of Jesus when he comes again. To be a true follower of Christ is not easy.

They were also major backers of Obamacare legislation, funding nearly 40 million in support and are major funders of immigration reform legislation -

Great. American deviants exporting cultural rot to other countries. Not exactly the type of export we can be proud of.

I did read the article, and it doesn’t change the silliness and escapism of your post.

So a first generation Irish Catholic billionaire with ties to his parents homeland, is also a gay activist, it is wrong to blame America for what the Catholic people of Ireland just did.

They just went to the polls as a nation, to overwhelmingly create gay marriage, a first in the world.

The Catholic Church has been dying in Ireland for 50 years.
Brow-beaten down by the homosexual scandal that affected their seminaries for years. The fruits of Vatican II. Leftist money, and I mean big time leftist money, combined with cowardly Catholic leaders, put a nail in the coffin for good. But without foreign influence the vote to destroy marriage would have never happened. The exact same thing happened in Washington State when Bill Gates donated millions to smother the airways for months before the vote on same-sex “marriage”. His leftist buddies all over the country donated in-kind.

And you agree with leftist foreign money bankrolling the referendum. So what’s new.

Ireland is still a nation of Catholics.

Someday you may realize that the Catholic church does more politics than you realize, they just do it with a quiet expertise, as you keep thinking that they are making little mistakes and oversights, in reality, they do know what they are doing.

This is from your article.

“”Ruse pointed out the Catholic Church in Ireland did not provide a moral compass for the debate.
(snip)
The Church did not take an overt stand with regard to the Irish marriage-definition referendum.

A spokeswoman for Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin told the Irish Times on Wednesday it was not the archbishop’s policy “to tell others how to vote except to stress that, given the importance of marriage and the family, decisions should not be taken lightly and that people should be informed of what is involved.”

At least one Catholic priest, Father Tim Hazelwood, a parish priest in County Cork, even announced publicly his intention to vote Yes.

Although the May 16 Guardian article was misleading regarding foreign support for those opposed to constitutional change, it was on target when it observed, “A Yes vote would also mark yet another defeat for the Catholic Church and the political power it used to wield in Ireland.”””

Our great contribution to the 21st century world.

There are several motives behind the push for homosexuality. One is the left’s obsession over population control. One is the left’s obsessive hatred of Christianity. One is the left’s obsession with sex (even though they can’t tell the difference between male and female).

Money is the fuel that runs the leftist machine. Huge sums of money were poured into Ireland by leftist Americans — it should be absolutely no surprise that the people who finance filth at home also finance it abroad.

It took more than a rich Catholic’s financial backing to get the Catholic nation of Ireland, to so overwhelmingly vote in gay marriage.

The first such vote in the world.

Ireland's weekly Church attendance rate is overall less than 20%. The estimated Church attendance in Dublin is 2% weekly.

The Irish have slipped into apostasy. They desperately are trying to show the world that they aren't the bastion of Catholicism that they once were, that they've moved on from their past as a Christian country.
