No problem. Let the schools quit offering lunches and get on with the business of educating students. I don’t think schools should be in the business of feeding students and overseeing what they eat. That should be the parent’s or guardian’s responsibility.

Let the students bring their own lunches prepared at home. Let their parents prepare a lunch and choose what the kids eat, not the school. If the parents are too poor, let them apply for food stamps. kill a chicken or goat, or rob a grocery store. Whatever.

This idea is not new. The current procedures are not working to everyone’s satisfaction. So try something that worked well in the old days when parents were responsible for feeding their kids.

That's just crazy conspiracy talk

Not at all...

Muslim incrementalism is a very real and dangerous thing...but I think in this case, it's simply mothers wanting their kids to eat a lunch, not impose their culture on us, I say that because there were no demand or else, just asking for accommodation.

What was stopping them from making their kids a bag lunch?

The same reason every low income mothers doesn't: It's FREE...

Doesn’t this “school” have any students (or teachers) involved with animal “rights”?
Why are they not complaining about the slow torture of animals slaughtered for halal meat?

Hypocrisy-much!!!!!!!

Count me as one who doesn't see this a big deal...
Beg to differ.

Now if the school demanded everybody eat halal food, that would be a problem...
That comes next month. Give an inch . . .

I know can be perceived as Muslim incrementalism, but it seems these mothers were simply concerned their children were not eating a lunch...
If the family is THAT pious, then let those concerned moms pinch pennies and send their kids to school with a halal lunch of their own making.

The Buddhists, Hindus, et al (let alone the Jews) also have religious dietary strictures, yet we have seen no push by their adherents - they aren't trying to take over.

Have a nice day.

I can understand in a way. As a Catholic, if the school or restaurant or whatever didn’t have a substitute for meat on Fridays during lent, I would starve at least for that meal. Especially as a Child, it would both me that they would only serve meat and not something else. Luckily everyone was aware of Lent back in the day.....And today on a smaller scale.

Although I went to Catholic school and we didn’t have hot lunches in any year that I went from K-12. In high school we had a few vending machines and in grade school they sold hot dogs once a month....if parents couldn’t afford a hot dog, you didn’t get one.

In my elementary school, we had fish Fridays because of the Catholic kids. Thankfully we didn’t have muslims.

Ya....cuz they do meatless Friday’s for Catholics, right?

The libs only accommodate “religion in school” when it’s not Christian or Jewish.

Perhaps their eyes are opened wider than yours - or is not in a place where the sun doesn't shine.

From the article - does THIS look like assimilation?

Fling wide open the borders and welcome hordes of bearded and burkad savages who practice seventh century superstitions and whose reptile-brain culture tells them that they have to eliminate other cultures and establish theirs.
Welcome the end of the United States.

“but it seems these mothers were simply concerned their children were not eating a lunch...
BS
IF these mothers were so concerned why didn’t they make a lunch and send it with their kids?
The free lunch is NOT mandatory.

antibiotic-free, hormone-free, air-chilled organic chicken

Something the American students weren't worthy of, apparently.
