President Vladimir Putin signed a bill into law Saturday giving prosecutors the power to declare foreign and international organizations “undesirable” in Russia and shut them down. […]

The law is part of a Kremlin campaign to stifle dissent that intensified after Putin began his third term in 2012. His return to the presidency had been accompanied by mass street protests that Putin accused the United States of fomenting. Russian suspicions of Western intentions have been further heightened because of tensions over Russia’s role in the conflict in Ukraine.

The new Russian law allows prosecutors to declare an organization undesirable if it presents a threat to Russia’s constitutional order, its defenses or its security. …

I don’t see the FSB going anywhere due to this law.

yeah but this guy is a two-bit dictator. And possibly worse. He definitely still has kgb blood. He had me fooled for a while with his pro family pro church anti gay propaganda agenda...but the murders of those who speak out against him, the obvious presence of Russian troops in Ukraine, the constant incursions by jets intol western territories etc show his true colors.

>> a threat to Russia’s constitutional order, its defenses or its security

“constitutional order” which has totally ambiguous meaning.

Putin isn’t a Two bit dictator—more like a six bit dictator. It looks like he is unifying his hold by using us as a thing to fear-—we are the new Russian Boogieman (old tactic used by Stalin and othet commie leaders) —This could morph into a big war. He may well move swiftly on Ukraine in summer—in two weeks he will be in Keiv. July perhaps—or August. He will hit us with a cyber attack to keep us out of the fight—same to Poland. It will be a summer of war—China will move south, Iran invade Iraq/Kuwait, Hamas Rocket Isreal, IS move into Saudi Arabia. An interesting time is upon us.

It’s a good move. Hungary did the same. This stops foreign libtard organizations bringing cultural degradation into the country.

“It’s a good move. “

It all depends on who gets to choose which ones are undesirable.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

John Adams, 10/11/1798
So a return to feudalism and absolutism trumps the intent of the Founding Fathers?

Putin is helping recreate the kind of society that the USA was trying to prevent.

good lord I hope all of that doesn’t happen. I realized when I typed it that two but dictator was the wrong phrase for someone with an arsenal of nuclear weapons and I still decent army with oilr money to back him up

No, two bit dictator is correct. Russia is a kleptocratic one party fascist petrostate that aspires to be China’s gas station. They have no economy, no hope and no future.

They still have their nukes. And Putin has not been ambiguous with his threats to use them offensively, which puts him just behind Iran when it comes to utter nihilism.

Putinist Russia threats are just psywar. What is Putin going to do with nukes? Nuke their best customers? Russia is a mafia business masquerading as a country. Putin won’t be nuking anybody because nuclear war is bad for business.

No businessman would threaten to use nukes in the first place. Or partner up with Red China in a military sense.

What are they going to nuke? All the children of Russian elite are living in the USA and Europe. They certainly don’t want to nuke these places.
