Propaganda is about telling a good story. So when the media wants to tell a story of how the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, they ignore inconvenient facts, such as the value of the various federal, state, and local transfer payments as well as the value of charitable contributions from private groups such as soup kitchens. That would interfere with the story that is needed to justify higher taxes and higher spending.

I have always said that America is home to the richest poor people on the planet. I would love to hear a politician talk about “effort inequality” as opposed to “income inequality”. Getting out of bed, finishing high school, staying off of drugs and not breaking the law is far too much effort for many people. As a result, they relegate themselves to the bottom of the ladder in their lives. I don’t feel guilty for whatever success I have achieved, nor am I bitter and envious of those that have earned and accomplished more than me.
Stop Massive Equality Now!!....
There is equal opportunity in this country. Just not equal desire to rise above. You either want it or you don’t. Some people have an inner desire to move up or been fed positive lessons. Others don’t or have been taught that their efforts are a waste of time and they’ll be taken care of regardless.
income statistics measure “household income” & it doesn’t matter if your “household” is Anglelina Jolie & Brad Pitt....or a 1 breadwinner unwed mother household.....or a 95 year old widow living on Social Security. Oh...by the way....Social Security income as well as any & all government transfer payment income....is NOT COUNTED as income in the statistics.
So basically, the entire reason for “income inequality” is about importing poor immigrants, more unwed mothers, widows, & an aging population living on Social Security, an economy that produces new wealthy people....—from pro athletes to entertainers to Mark Zuckerbergs to Rachel Rays, Martha Stewarts , Adam Richmans & Bobby Flays.......and 2 professionals households versus 1 poor divorced woman or unwed mother household.
I can’t remember what famous immigrant said it, but said his family from a starving Ethiopia or similar nation wanted to go to a country so wealthy that even the poor people were fat.
A recession or depression always results in the rich getting richer and the poor becoming destitute. It is one of the markers of a recession.
So many voted twice to be poor.
