An RAF Typhoon fighter has been repainted in the Second World War colours of a Battle of Britain hero to mark the 75th anniversary of the crucial clash.
The Eurofighter jet which is usually coloured a drab grey has instead been painted with the camouflage and 249 Squadron identification number of the only Fighter Command pilot awarded a Victoria Cross during the battle.
Flt Lt James Brindley Nicolson won Britains highest award for battlefield bravery for attacking and shooting down a German fighter even though his own cockpit was on fire.

The jet is a Eurofighter Typhoon. The prop job is indeed a Hurricane.
I’m aware of the modern day Typhoon; I was just commenting on the WW2 version.
The modern Typhoon has been painted in the colours of a Battle of Britain plane to commemorate Wing Commander Nicolson’s VC.
Nicolson flew in 249 Squadron, a squadron of Hurricanes, hence the inclusion of the Hurricane in the photo.
If I am not wrong the WWII Typhoon did not come into service until long after the Battle of Britain.
All I was doing was pointing out that if they were going to show the two planes that instead of the Hurricane to use a WW2 Typhoon (some of which are still flying today)and all I did was post a picture of what the WW2 Typhoon looked like. I didn’t know this would turn into some sort of debate. The Battle of Britain notwithstanding.
Nice picture, by the way.
In two posts in separate threads you pointed out that the WWII plane in the picture was not a Hawker Typhoon, despite neither report claiming that it was a Typhoon, merely that the modern Typhoon was being repainted in the colours of Wing Commander Nicolson’s plane, which happened to be a Hurricane (and hence the inclusion of a WWII Hurricane for comparison).
It was you who insisted in bringing up the entirely irrelevant fact that there was a type of plane, in use much later in WWII, that also happened to go by the same name as the modern fighter.
If there is any confusion I am sorry to say it is you who has caused it.
Have a nice day.
