The Federal Election Commission, facing punishing criticism for suggesting that political activity on the Internet should be regulated, rejected talk of new rules Thursday, a victory for GOP commissioners who feared Democrats were targeting conservative sites, even the Drudge Report.
During a public meeting, Democrats on the FEC said they were responding to the public outcry in saying that no new rules are required.
Democratic Commissioner Ellen Weintraub said the FEC received 5,000 comments demanding the agency keep their hands off the Internet. In response, she proposed a resolution that directly barred Internet regulation.
"I wanted to make clear that I was listening to what people are saying out there and I think we should allay those concerns if people are concerned that we are about to do that," she said. Her resolution said: "I further move that the Commission direct [counsel] to exclude from the rulemaking any proposal affecting political activity on the Internet."

In this case however the good guys are aided by the fact that leftist voters tend to opiate themselves with all the frivolities the internet can provide. While they are ambivalent on the government screwing up things they don’t understand (like the healthcare system) wrecking the internet might be the only thing that could drive them to care what their masters are doing.
These people will not stop - they are not spineless REPUBLICANS. They keep hammering, trying ways around existing laws and the Constitution, and will use any means possible to achieve their goals.
Wow, some Republicans can take a lesson from these Democrats that actually LISTENED to their constituents.
I suspect there will be some back door attempt before O’fascist leaves office.

Their desire to control the web is there. Only for now, the regulation on political activities is halted. Temporarily. I still don’t see how they propose to ‘regulate it’.

I love the phrasing here - "feared" targeting? As if it had never happened before? What was the IRS doing again?

Wool-over- eyes.. Yep.. She said “political activity”. That leaves them wide open to regulate anything they deem otherwise. For example, hate speech. This is not a victory, this is a play on words. Internet control is here, for the good of the children and everyone knows it.
