SPRING HILL – Firefighters face countless hazards each time they walk into a burning building or pull victims from mangled vehicles, but what about unexpected dangers presented by those they are trying to help? Just like the increasing hostility towards law enforcement, the threat of violence against all First Responders is growing.
During the recent unrest in Baltimore, Firefighters were pelted with rocks and bottles as they tried to extinguish burning buildings and vehicles.
Closer to home, Fire Rescue responded to 680 Cape Cod Loop Sunday, to assist a man who had fallen into a pool at Nantucket Cove Apartments. Upon arrival the victim began chasing Rescue Personnel and attempting to strike them, according to officials. To avoid injury, Fire Rescue backed out of the complex and waited for law enforcement to arrive on scene.
Arriving deputies placed 29-year-old Allen Donta into custody and transported to Oak Hill Hospital to be medically cleared.
During the investigation, Deputies discovered that Donta’s girlfriend, Octavia Simon, had been battered by Donta prior to their arrival. Simon says Donta has violent tendencies and on that day he became so angry that he punched her in the forehead.
Donta was booked into the Hernando County Jail on charges of Domestic Battery (2nd Offense). He remains behind bars, held on a $5,000 bond.

Message to law enforcement and other first responders, just provide a cordon/perimeter to keep the infections in and let them police themselves. Keep the trash and thugs out of good neighborhoods and let them go at it in their own areas.
Attacks on firemen began back in the 1960s.
