That's probably accurate for popular music. For classical, I'd probably prefer chamber music or accompanying a singer on lieder at a private home. That way, a minimum number of people will know just how deteriorated my technique is after half a century.

Well, I did play in a rock band back in the day (60’s). Perhaps if I were a young person today with the same conditions I would play Punk. Who knows? ;-)

All of those things are quite true. More so in the past than today, but quite true. It should be no surprise my favorite band was (and is) The Who, because they were also all of those things.
