Warren Buffett highlights how his Berkshire Hathaway Inc. utilities make massive investments in renewable energy. Meanwhile, in Nevada, the company is fighting a plan that would encourage more residents to use green power.

They can use net metering and high feed-in tariffs as an incentive, but if it gets too large, you will end up with problems like they had in Spain and Germany.
Instead, Elton Musk has already solved the problem with his homeowner solar battery cabinets which allows the homeowner to save and use later that excess solar power.

And the solution you posit is not as Tesla claims. It is neither cost efficient nor does it bring new battery technology to the marketplace. It does, however, take up great subsidies from the State of Nevada (Reno site) and the federal government (or you, the taxpayer).

Buffett has evolved into a modern day Jay Gould. Just look at the sweetheart deal he finagled from Goldman Sachs at the height of the bank crisis in 2008.
